My husband has 2 days of business meetings during our 7 day stay in February. I originally had a 7 day park ticket but may knock it down to 6. I was going to try to do one of the parks myself for 1 day. My kids are 4 & 6 years old, so not sure how feasible this is with just me and rides etc. but I'm willing to try at least for 1/2 the day and maybe return that night with him.

Any suggestions on things outside the parks to do with a 4 & 6 year old? We are staying at Contemporary. It may be too cold for the pool so looking for other ideas. I thought about maybe taking the boat to the Wilderness Lodge or just ride the monorail and check out the other resorts and have lunch at one of them. Or perhaps go to Disney Springs and walk around.

I think the main issue you will have at the parks is going on any rides that don't seat you all together; the 6 yr old won't be able to ride alone at this point, I think, on things like Barnstormer, 7DMT, TSMM, etc.

ETA - Epcot may be a good choice for you on one of the days; most of the rides there are able to accommodate all of you sitting together, and wandering around the World Showcase, doign the Kidcot stops, watching performers, doing Agent P maybe, would probably be a low-pressure kind of day; though I guess it depends on what your kids are into.

There's lots to look at at Ft Wilderness if your kids like animals. Otherwise, how about mini golf? Arcade at your resort? Pirate cruise from GF?

Disney Springs is also good, in the marketplace section there's a train and a carousel that they can ride, the Lego store, World of Disney, toy store, etc. We also kept DS entertained at Disney Quest for a little while last year; he wasn't old enough to do the attractions, but the video games kept him occupied. That said, admission was included in our package, I'm not sure I would pay whatever the admission fee is to just kill an hour or two.

I would go to AK and treat it like a zoo. See one of the shows, walk the trails, greet some characters, play in the Boneyard, see the Safari (and Bugs Life if they aren't too scared), ride the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and see everything back there in Affection Station. It shouldn't be too taxing and you can enjoy stuff your husband might get bored by...

Thank you, excellent idea! I had my mind on MK since we are at Contemporary but maybe I can do MK day 1 (just shows, parades and 3 seater rides) and AK day 2

Honestly, I would find a park easier than riding around or Disney Springs. There would be way more to keep them engaged, shows to stop and sit at, etc. Most rides you can fit three in a vehicle.

My 4 year old is also not into rides, so the only rides I can do at MK or AK are ones that are pretty low key or the shows. For the bigger rides, my 6 year old is going to have to wait for day 2 at MK with daddy! She's a total thrill seeker and loves all rides! I haven't heard of the pirate cruise but will look it up. Thanks!

I was also going to suggest AK. My 5 year old loved doing the Wilderness Explorers activities there, and the only required rides for WE are the safari and the train to Rafiki's planet watch. Plus they have several really good shows.

Wilderness Explorers and the Train alone look awesome! We didn't go to AK on our last trip but this all looks great - thank you!

This is a good plan. At AK you can do boneyard, the safari, the trails, you can see shows and parades.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the number of rides that you will be able to ride together in MK. Many of the rides will accommodate an adult and 2 small children.

Carousel of Progress
Monsters Inc.
People Mover
Magic Carpets
Railroad
Dumbo
It's A Small World
Peter Pan
Buzz Lightyear (only 2 will be able to play the game)
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Under the Sea
