Hi. First family trip to WDW. DCs are ages 7, 6, and 3 (40 inches tall). FP day is coming up and need to finalize plan for 5 days. Current plan is MK, EP, MK, AK, MK. Our kids generally don't like scary thrill rides. Is AK worth it? Is 1 day enough for EP for this age group? TIA.

AK has lots of stuff for young kids who don't like thrill rides. There are trails to walk where you can see animals. The Boneyard is tons of fun for kids your ages. I'd say AK is worth it. It's a beautifully themed park.

One day at EP is probably enough for your kids too. EP happens to be my kids' favorite park, and they have felt that way for years. I think that's probably not the norm. They LOVE World Showcase and could spend hours exploring the countries. I think most kids might not be as into that though.

In World Showcase, they can participate in Agent P's scavenger hunt throughout the countries. The 7 and 6 yo are the perfect age for it.

They'd probably love Soarin' and Mission Space green. Test Track might be too much of a thrill ride for them. Have them watch it outside before you try it.

Don't forget your plans aren't necessarily set in stone. If you are at a park they don't like, you can leave and go to another park (if you have hoppers) or go back to the resort, Disney Springs, etc.

Have a great trip!

My DD(6) loves Epcot so we would probably not do 3 full days at MK and do at least a day and a half at Epcot. DD does not like thrill rides. At Epcot we spend a ton of time in WS. AK is also a wonderful park and I wouldn't skip it. As PP said there is a ton to see and do without riding Dinosaur or EE. We usually ride the safari at RD, and then have a FP+ for it later in the day as it's DD's favorite. We usually see more animals first thing in the morning though.

Let me ask you this, do you have a good zoo by you? I find that a lot of AK loses me, because I have seen the same animals at good zoos and I'm not really in to shows (so lion king and nemo are out). Do you have park hopper?

As prior post mentioned it depends on how good your zoo is. My son was bored since he didn't like the lion king show and the only ride he could go on was safari and dino twirl. We will not be returning next trip

We live near and have a membership to a large, well-known zoo with some rides. We don't have park hopper. We do like shows. We live in a city and kids love nature.

With kids in that age group, I would opt for a day at AK over a second day at Epcot. There is plenty to do for kids in that age group. Plus, don't underestimate the overall fatigue factor of your trip. If you try to go-go-go with kids that age, you could be in for some meltdowns. AK is a park that can be done at a leisurely pace, with several sit down shows that will help create a more relaxing day than the other parks afford. I find that a calming day at AK is almost as therapeutic as taking a day off. Since this is your first family trip to WDW, you should take that into account.

Until Avatarland opens at AK, I'd go with 2 Epcot, 0 AK all the way.

Son loves Epcot. We'll do Spaceship Earth multiple times, Mission Space, Finding Nemo, Turtle Talk, Journey into Imagination, the Mexico boat ride, and more. We can usually find more than enough to do at Epcot, even if we skip the "big" rides like Test Track and Soarin'.
