DS7 and I are going to Orlando for 6 nights the first week in August. Our plan is to stay 5 nights at the Swan (teacher discount) and then the last night at RPR. Am I correct in thinking that if we get up early, catch a taxi from the Swan we can check in at the RPR at say 9:00 and get room keys (I know we won't actually get a room) to use for FOTL priveledges at IOA the rest of that day? Similarly if we check out early the next morning, can we use FOTL priveledges at US until our evening flight home?

Also, we will be at IOA on Saturday and US on Sunday -- are those good days? Or with the FOTL will it really not matter.

Finally, which lines have FOTL priveledges?

Thanks!

Two days FOTL from one night's stay -- you bet you can! It is good the day you check in and the day you check out (all of each day). With FOTL, I don't really think the day of the week in early August will matter that much. You can use your FOTL benefit on virtually every ride (the only one that comes to mind right now that doesn't is Pterodon Flyers).

Yay! I have to say that seems to good to be true, but I'm going to take your word that it is.

Just for a comparison for fun --

Disney -- 1 night at a value, 2 day park hopper ticket, transportation to and from the airport (DME) for me and ds -- $442.20

UO -- 1 night at RPR (nicer than a WDW value from what I hear), 2 day park 2 park ticket (DS is free), Shuttle to and from the airport -- $410 And I get FOTL priveledges? Wow!!!

It is definitely true! You will have FOTL access both days.

RPR is a resort hotel, like the Disney Deluxe, so not even a comparison to the Disney Values . . .

You are going to have a wonderful time!

RPR is even a nicer resort than the Poly at WDW. ;)

I am doing the same this august. I was told that you can go the the hotel around 8-8:30 and pick up passes so that you can get to the park at 9. Also sat and sun hotel prices are more money than if you go mid week. I am so psyched in doing this. I already told my son that I am going on each ride at least twice whether I like the ride or not just so I can feel like royalty for those two days.

OK, new question. Our plan for our vacation is to spend 6 nights and 7 days in Orlando, divided between the Swan (teacher discount) and the PRP. We will spend part of 6 of those 7 days in the parks as follows -- 1 day each TL, MK, Epcot, BB, IOA and US, with a full day off in the middle somewhere (probably after the Epcot day) to relax and enjoy the resort. Is PRP enough nicer than Swan that it's worth the extra $100 difference to do 2 nights at PRP and have our "off day" there. For that matter, should we do maybe 3 nights at PRP and do Wet'n Wild instead of the Disney water parks?

In my opinion the Swan is also a very nice resort hotel. If you are using a hotel for a day off (not using your FOTL perk) and you have a better price at the Swan, I'd stay there. Also in my opinion, the Disney water parks are more interestingly themed than Wet n Wild (although more expensive, too) and if you are just doing a water park for one day and are already at the Swan, I'd stick with that plan.

I would definitely stick with the Disney water parks over Wet 'N Wild, they are fantastic! If you run into bad weather on a day you planned to go to a water park, or maybe want to do something different, your son might enjoy Disney Quest at Downtown Disney...it's 5 floors of interactive fun and video games...you pay admission to get in and then all of the games are included (except games that have prizes, those ticket redemption things) and is really quite fun!

I agree that if you have a better rate, I'd stay with the Swan...you can chill at the pool by day and in the evening walk over to the Boardwalk where they have games and usually various street entertainment...or you could walk up to Fantasia Gardens and play mini golf or stroll over to Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club and have yummy burgers and ice cream! :teeth: You also have the bus to Downtown Disney Marketplace for strolling around the stores and such too...and there is a movie theater too. I just think there might be more stuff to do if the mood strikes you to wander away from the resort...

Have fun!

8-8:30 ?????

why so late.............i have checked in at 7:20 am before. :thumbsup2

Yep, we've done that. We checked in before 9:00 a.m, got our room keys, went to the parks. The day you check out the room keys were good until 3:00 pm I think. But this was several years ago, don't know if the time has changed or not.

RP has a pretty cool pool, but no slide. I don't think I'd pay $100 more just to stay there for an off-park day. It's a nice place though, we liked it. One perk is that you can use any of the Universal resort pools, something else you might consider.

i have been staying on site for many years now.

the room keys for fotl on check out day are valid until the parks close that evening.

i have never encountered a 3 pm cut off point for the fotl on check out day.

that's one of the nice perks of staying on site, an extra full day with fotl
