I'm so excited. So so SO excited!!

The first of my questions involves our tickets:

We have the 5 day parkhopper e-ticket with barcode and such and we're staying at PPH. Can we get our tickets exchanged at the front desk? Do we need to get our photos taken at the gates when we go in for our F! meal at RBT, or is that at the front desk too?

The second question involves PP+:

As we're going to be checking in on Sunday afternoon, can we get the PP+ activated at the hotel, or is that also on Main Street?

Third question:

Should we enter through GCH or DTD and the front gates... uh... I'm all turned around right? It's our first entrance for the kids and hubby and they're going to expect me to know the way to go in and how to get to the restaurant and all that. Even though it's been 15 years since I've been there last...

So what would you do to get to RBT for a F! meal from the PPH?

TIA

The River Belle Terrace is located in Disneyland. I would go through the GCH, exit into DTD, and then go through bag check, and enter into DL. I would not bother with entering and exiting DCA on the way, unless there was something you wanted to do in DCA before going to dinner.

Only at the gates for both exchanging the barcode vouchers and having your pics taken. Enjoy your trip!

1- I'm not sure if the hotel can exchange the tickets or just the ticket area by the front gates, but as pp said you can only take your photo when you enter the gates.
2- you can get your pp activated at either camera shop (1 in each shop), they cannot do that at the hotel.
3- I would suggest going through DTD to enter for RBT. As pp said it is in DLR and not CA (which is the only park GCH has an entrance to), but mostly I say this because it is so amazing walking in the main DLR entrance your first park day!
Have a great trip!!

The hotel CAN exchange your vouchers for your actual tickets.
They cannot take the photo though...that must be done at the turnstiles.
The front desk cannot exchange the PP+ voucher for you. It needs to be done at Main Street Camera Shop in DL or Kingswell Camera in DCA.
Do not use the GCH entrance first thing in the morning...go to the main gates through DTD.

Thanks everyone! Our first day will be an afternoon.

We go to DTD and through the front gates for RBT. Got it.

Did I mention how excited I am?

New questions for today! Theme: Money.

The exchange rate is going to KILL us, but it is what it is I suppose.

I'm thinking of getting a $20 roll of quarters for pressed penny machines. I have enough pennies. According to my calculations, if we do EVERY machine in the parks, we're looking at 127 quarters, and times by 3 (DH isn't interested), that's 481 quarters, so around $20. That's about right, right?

And for in-flight meals, airport meals, lunch and in-n-out, water, beer, and snacks at WalMart/Costco, I'm thinking $100 cash? Or should it be slightly more? Who all do I tip? The Karmel Shuttle guy? Bell Services for holding our bags? I want at least $5/day for Mousekeeping so how many $5's do I need to get from the bank before we go? We're arriving the 4th and leaving the 9th.

Any suggestions?

481 quarters is $120...not $20. That's going to be a heavy stack of quarters!

I'm good with quarters because I used to have coin operated laundry. Those quarter rolls were my best friends!

You may want to double check the airline you're flying if you plan to buy meal inflight. I am flying Alaska Airlines next week and I know they are a cashless cabin. Cards only :( Meals seem to run from $6-10 depending on the airline. I'm not much help with the other expenses. I can't go to Costco without spending $100 on things I don't need so I have no idea what a normal person spends there.

Someone told me not to pack rolls of quarters since they set off security to search your bags and may be taken.
A roll of quarters is $10 or 40 quarters.

In terms of the coin press machines, I don't know if you're number also includes the quarter and nickel machines. Those cost more, plus you need a nickel and/or quarter to press.

I think you're going to need more than $100 for the in-flight meals, airport meals, lunch and in-n-out, water, beer, and snacks for three people. I would guess you should double that to be safe because airport/airplane food is pricey. I would plan to tip Bell Services, the Shuttle Driver, and Housekeeping.

For many of those things, you can use a credit card and your CC company gives you the best exchange rate.
A note on airplane meals.. We have found that they don't carry enough meals to serve everyone, even on a dinner or breakfast flight. So it's entirely likely your family will go hungry (has happened to us) if you rely on the airlines. I strongly recommend you buy something in the airport or at least be ready with alternative snacks if they/when run out of food.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks everyone. We are flying Alaska and have a short flight to Seattle, and by the time we leave (0600!) and get to SEA, it'll only be a 30 minute flight, so no food. We'll eat at SEA and take food with us - good idea. Card only, eh? I hate that. Oh well, good to know now instead of while on the plane! I'll just load more onto my card before we go and take minimal cash for tips and emergencies.

Just to make sure, but Alaska only accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover credit or debit card for purchase of in-flight foods (at least that's what I was told when I flew when them last). I wasn't quite sure if "load card" meant you had some type of gift card or something like that. I would double check with Alaska to make sure they take your payment method.

In DLR, you can usually get by without much cash, but it's always worth carrying some around with you (I usually carry enough to cover one meal in case there is an issue with the credit/debit/gift card readers or your card itself). I know you need cash for the penny machines, some of the "walk around" vendors, and balloon sellers. Most everything else accepts plastic.

The only cash I use during a trip is for a few tips and to pay the cab each way - and even they accept CC's.

SeaTac airport is a good place to eat actually. There is a law there, that the stores and restaurants inside the airport may not charge higher prices than would be found outside the airport.
