We were going to go deluxe in April to take advantage of some 2 credit restaurants, but we're second guessing our decision as our 1 year old has been a little cranky at some restaurants lately. She's usually ok, we've discovered, if the place is well lit and there are more things to look at than candles on the table. :)
I am pretty sure she'd be ok at crt because it's character meal, but are there other 2 credit meals that might be ok for her?
We have a few months to decide but we're really leaning toward basic dining with some buffets and character meals as it seems that the 2 credit ones are a little too fancy and a little more boring for a 2 year old.

Well, I think after reading my own post, we are probably going to do the basic plan. It just seems like it will be better.

:thumbsup2 I was thinking of recommending you downgrade before even reading your second post.

With young kids who don't like to sit for extended periods of time it si really hard to fit in alot of sit-down (TS) meals. You feel stressed the entire time trying to keep them happy/quiet making it not so happy of an experience for anyone. I would recommend buffets or family style meals for your family.

I think you made a good choice. It's always iffy doing Signature dining with an infant/toddler. Have fun!

I've taken my toddlers to all of the signature restaurants & I've never had a problem. My kids are content as long as there is something to color & there is bread/crackers on the table to hold them over until the meal arrives. :) In fact, almost every time the servers went out of their way to play around with the kids & made sure they enjoyed themselves. I've also never been to a signature restaurant where I haven't seen plenty of other families w/ kids dining there as well. Give it a shot, you're at WDW! The only restaurant kids aren't welcomed at is V&A.

I guess we're crazy...we have 1 infant and 1 toddler and are doing it all! :cool1:

I hope you have a great time!!!

I want to applaud you for knowing your child's limitations in a restaurant setting.

if your little one hasn't been to a character meal before. Have a back-up plan! My VERY ADVENTUREOUS two year old was absolutely TERRIFIED:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: at CP! And Pooh and Tigger were his absolute favorites at the time.

Try one first off, and keep your ressies at others if it goes well. If it goes badly and you have lots of character ADRs, you'll spend a lot of your meals either walking around with a little one to avoid the characters or with a two year old clinging to your neck in a death grip with his/her head buried in your shoulder (very difficult to eat in this position!):rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Luckily we had made a non-character TS meal and a chracter meal each day (one for breakfast and one for lunch or dinner-NOT for the same meal-no flames please!) and were able to keep the non character meal as our sit down meal and cancel the character meal, using our CS credit each day for that meal.

Having alot of kids myself I would say don't do the 2tbs settings. In my opinion.

it sounds like you made the right decision.

But I just want to add that it totally depends on the child. My daughter has been in some of the finest restaurants (think the Ritz Carlton) and she is almost always well behaved. We bring crayons or little toys and talk to her. and on the off chance that she gets cranky, we take her outside.

Agreed...Save the DxDDp for when they are little older and can enjoy it!
Well lit location with characters makes me think of CP with Pooh and Friends.

actually I would say the Brown Derby is probably the most accomdating 2TS for very young children (if you can get seated at one of the booths) It is lit well enough and the drawings can help distract the child and they can wiggle around in the booth.

We did deluxe but our 2TS credits went towards dinner shows like Hoop Dee Doo. We had our 5 yr old, 3 yr old, and 6 month old. No problems at all (well, except we ate at Hoop Dee Doo at 9:30 and our 3 yr old passed out at the table LOL)
