Can I book two rooms online and request to have them connecting at the same time? Or do I need to call to do this? Or do they need to be booked one at a time and then have it noted they are connected? If it’s one at a time how do I know there’s two rooms available and it isn’t the last one? It’s for in a few months from now so there are things sold out

I don't know how you would be able to request connecting rooms during an online reservation. I hate to say it, but I think you probably should call for this.

It’s also good to note that at least fur some resorts, connecting rooms can be requested but are not guaranteed. I know this is the case at Pop Century but not sure about other Disney resorts.

I don't know of any Disney hotels that guarantee connecting rooms (other than the 2-bedroom lock-offs). Even if in theory one room is for parents and one for children because the parents can always split up between the rooms. So it's always a request.

I think Hilton properties is one that does have connecting rooms as a bookable category. But not Disney.

Ya I know it’s only a request. Wish it wasn’t, if we book at Marriott they’ll guarantee it

They used to have a room category that had two connecting rooms at the Swan/Dolphin. I don't know if it still exists as I haven't booked it for many years. I always called to book it. Something like an Alcove room with a connecting room? At the time it was essentially two rooms that connected and was actually less expensive than booking two rooms separately. But that was close to 30 years ago now....so things may have changed.

Earlier this year we requested connected or at least near each other rooms at Riverside. Both rooms were booked in the preferred section of the resort. The rooms we received weren't even in the same building so believe them when they say no guarantee.

I just wanted to share our experience with booking two rooms - noting this is just us and others experience may vary.
I originally booked two rooms online at POR, I had to add myself to both reservations to be able to make park reservations using my AP. When I rang to request connecting, they let me know I couldn’t have myself in both rooms, and changed my booking to two rooms under the one reservation, so I was in one room and other members in the other room. All went well, we kept the discounts on the rooms that I had originally secured when making the online bookings.

Fast forward, we arrived at POR. We got connecting rooms (YAY, so happy). Our old magic bands worked to open door. My band opened the door of room I was in, others worked for their room - but no band would open both rooms.

Issue - got to the parks tried to charge food purchase to room, didn’t work. We tried a few different times, different bands, different purchases, no success. Went to POR reception to try and fix it, got great service as they worked with Disney IT to try to fix. Did multiple trips to the local shop to test. No success. We can’t charge to the room.

Next issue - when we got back to the room, after them trying to fix it, our magic bands no longer opened the door. Back to reception, they talked with Disney IT, got “some” of our bands working again (but not all), this makes no sense but true.

We were told the problem was the way they originally joined the rooms and the only way to fix would be to cancel reservation and start again, but we are already in room.

Anyway, we can get in the room, we can’t charge expenses to the room - but we have connecting rooms and we are at Disney having a fantastic time. So we don’t want to waste more time with IT to try and fix.

Just wanted to share to help others trying to get connecting rooms.
