Hello and Happy New Year.

I am new to DVC in 2002 and have yet to stay at WDW using our points. My husband and I are planning to travel with another couple using our DVC points. My husband and I were going to book a 1BR for ourselves and we were going to book a studio for our friends. But, when looking at the points chart, it appears that it would be a better use of our points to book a 2BR for all 4 of us, rather than a 1 BR and a studio. But.........we want our privacy as will the other couple. So I have some questions. Will we each have our own outside the villa entrance to our rooms. It appears that way when I look at the layout guides. Or, is this a special request that I must ask for with the 2BR? Will there be a door between our living area with kitchen and our friends bedroom that can be closed for their privacy? Does the 2nd BR always have the kitchen efficiency area of a studio or, again, is that just in certain instances where you request such a setup?

Perhaps I am not reading the layout maps correctly but what I am asking about appears to be shown in the photos of my guidebook.

As for the resort, we have our home at VWL and will definitely be staying there for at least half of the stay. If I am able to book at 7 months out, I will probably have us switch resorts at the midpoint of our stay and switch to the new BCV. So, my questions pertain to both resort 2BR villas.

If there is a place to see the layouts of the 2BRs that is better than the guidebook layout, please direct me to that website.

Thanks.

Jeanette

Except for BWV, there are dedicated 2BR villas and Lock-off 2BR villas.

The lock-offs are a combination of a 1BR and a Studio and thus will have the mini-kitchen in the studio and outside access for both room types. These are connected by a door in the living room or entryway- depending on the resort. These will also have a queen bed and sleep sofa in the 2nd BR (Studio).

Dedicated 2BRs also have a connecting door, which may be shut/locked, but will have only one access door and no mini-kitchen in the 2nd BR. These 2nd BR's will have 2 queen beds in most resorts without the sleep sofa.

You can request a lock-off or dedicated villa, but these are not guaranteed- as with any request.

I'm sure, either way, you'll find the accommodations private and comfortable. The 2BR's are all nice.

Enjoy!

Am I correct, that at the BWV, all 2 BR are lockoffs???

Thanks.

Doc, I just asked the CM on Tuesday when I called to make my VWL reservation if the lockoff was guaranteed, and her reply was yes. Did she tell me wrong? Erin

No request other than room size is guaranteed. However, as there are more lock-offs than otherwise, your chances of getting that request are virtually certain.

I asked again this morning when I called MS. She said my lockoff would be guaranteed, and it would be on my reservation. She said all other things were requests (smoking) , but a lockoff would be guaranteed. I don't know if it has anything to do with timeframe. I am reserving 11 months out. Maybe closer to arrival time they might not be able to guarantee on or the other. Not trying to start a debate, just letting you know what I was told.

I have a ressie at VWL for a dedicated 2br. Circumstances have changed and now we would prefer a lock-off. I called today to see if I could change it. They did not have all days available, so I am waitlisted for a lock-off 2 br. I would have to think that if they will waitlist for a dedicated/lock-off, it would not just be a request, but guaranteed. I love having the choices DVC gives us!!

I did call Member Services today and I was told that a lock-off is a request that can be made and guaranteed. I hope I was told the correct info.

I was speaking with a Manager at BCV and he told me that the room type of lock off or dedicated is part of the reservation, not a request. When MS makes a reservation for us, they reserve the lock-off or dedicated. This should be gauranteed.

newt1912... If you get a lock-off. You really don't have to tell your guests that you are in a 2 bedroom villa. You can tell them that they are in a room that is next to yours, it will have its own entrance. It will be just like other resort rooms that have a connecting door that you can either open or not. (with the exception that you will have a living room and kitchen)
