2 BR Value Waitlist Question

I have two value studios at AKV booked for 5 nights the first week of June next year. The plan was to do 4 days at Disney and drive over to the Gulf for one day. (Not my idea. I hate moving on vacation, but one of my sons wanted to go to the Gulf.) My son is now wishing for two beach days, and I'm wondering if it would be better to do that, then go to Disney, so that the trip is not so disrupted. And I am now wishing for a 2-BR value instead of two studios. Points-wise, I would have only enough for 4 nights in the 2-BR. I have waitlisted two range of dates (Sun-Wed and Mon-Thurs), still the first week of June. I know I've heard longer waitlists are harder to fill. Do I have a chance at all?

Values are hard to get as you already know. I would think that you would be pretty high on the wait list since you have made it before the 7 month mark. However, you are asking for a studio and a 1BR to become available at the same time since all the values are lock offs, that might be difficult.
Hopefully drubs or skier_pete will have some statistics to give you a better idea of your chance.

I didn't even think about that! I guess it would be easier to waitlist a 1-BR and keep one of the studios, but that is 3 points more/night. I think at 33 points/night, I would just go ahead and book a 2-BR at Kidani for 35 points/night and get the 3rd bathroom.

I don't know about the odds but I have had a waitlist fill for a 2BR value during May a couple years ago. I think it was for 3 or 4 days.

Only 10 of the 18 value studios are lockoffs, but I don't think that's really a problem. I'm reasonably sure that you could book a one bedroom and have them concert you existing studio into a two bedroom. That's probably your best bet, other than booking the two bedroom at Kidani.

4 nights is a longer waitlist in this situation. If any of the nights become available, I'd take them then waitlist the rest day by day instead. I'd guess your chances would be fair to pretty good done that way. The issue is going to be uncertainty, esp sine you don't have enough points to hold the current reservations and 2-3 days of the 2 BR value. You might consider changing your wait lists to 2 nights each rather than the 4 nights. Then you could either keep what you have or change to the standard 2 BR suggested above then wait list the other 2 nights as singles. There are currently no nights available as you likely know.

That would be awesome! I think I will call them and check.

So what you are saying is I should have two waitlists, one for maybe Monday and Tuesday and then another for Wednesday and Thursday? That would increase my chances maybe? BTW, darn you, Dean! You are the one who got me looking into 2-BRs for my family instead of separate studios! :thanks:

This would increase your chances of success but does come with risk and possible aggravation. You'll have to decide how that fits for you. The safe things would be to keep what you have or to reserve an available 2 BR (if you have enough points) then wait list the entire stay. I think your best chances of getting the 2 BR value are to have two 2 night wait lists then if you match, wait list a single night that fits what you get (keeping the other 2 nights WL) then if that matches, still keep the 2 night WL and change to the 4th night. But it's only 4 nights so you have workable choices even with the studios. I'm not sure 2 BR functionality is guaranteed if you get the 1 BR but it should be very likely.
