We are booked June 5-10, 2011 at OKW in a 2 BR with 7 adults and 2 kids for our first DVC trip! Crossing our fingers that we'll have a renovated room with the sleeper chair, but will make do if we have to. We didn't request a dedicated 2 br, should we do that?

The plan is to try to move to BLT at 7 months so we have the 3rd bathroom and the sleeper chair for sure.

However, the square footage at OKW is much bigger than at BLT and everyone we talk to LOVES OKW. But, BLT is so close to MK and on the monorail (we've never stayed in a monorail resort before). Seems kind of silly to be even asking since we may not even be able to get BLT, but does anyone have any thoughts about OKW vs BLT?

If you want space, OKW is the best bet. If being near MK is your main desire, then switch to BLT if possible, but you WILL be cramped there.

I have never stayed at BLT, but stayed at OKW twice before becoming members. Both times we had 8. Last trip, 2 of my boys and in-laws stayed in the second bedrm, and we put our youngest in our king bed with us and sent down an air matress that we put on the floor for our other son. The master bdrm is huge! We were able to keep the living room open, which was nice if you wanted to stay up or were an early riser. OKW rooms are huge!

We stayed in BLT 2BR this summer with 9 and were very comfortable. My parents were in the king bedroom, my brother's family was in the livingroom- my brother and sister-in-law were on the pullout couch, my niece in the pullout chair. Me and my husband were in the queen bed and my 2 daughters were on the pullout couch. we had a studio connected to a one bedroom. We had no problems and the 3 bathrooms were awesome.

I would think that if you have either adults or teenagers sleeping in the living room, then a third bathroom will come in wonderful and provide some privacy for those sleeping in the LR.

The OKW villa is much larger at 1395 sq. ft. The BLT 2BR is only 1152 sq. ft. (two feet longer). So if a larger living room is really important then the OKW villa would be a better choice. Keep in mind that a 2BR at BLT will cost you a lot more points per night than at OKW. If you spend a lot of time at MK and want to dine at the other monorail resorts, staying at BLT will save you time. You also have the option of taking the monorail to Epcot, which is not a timesaver (you have to switch monorails at the TTC to go to Epcot from BLT) but fun to do.

If you have a dedicated 2 bedroom at OKW you have an extra sink and closet. The balconies/patios are also much larger. You can actually fit people on it, more than 2 and it has a table. We have done 7 adults and 1 child. Me, DH, My mother, her cousin, DSs 19 and 21, their friend 19 and DD 14. So the child wasn't really a child. Never had a problem with the bathroom. The boys all slept in the living room as they tended to come in late. I also like haveing a full size washer/dryer as opposed to the apartment style one at BLT.
