2 Beds at Contemporary Garden Wing?

I booked a room at the Contemporary (Garden Wing - Garden View) yesterday when the Visa discount came out and I told the agent on the phone I wanted the Garden Wing knowing it was less expensive - but today I find out that I have the Garden View and not the Standard View which I assume is more money??

Also, I had it booked for 2 adults, however, my friend backed out and I took her off the reservation so now it's just me until I find someone else to join me. I never questioned the room configuration though. I called and made sure it was two beds and was told that all rooms at the Contemporary are 2 beds which I know isn't true. It doesn't even look like you can request two beds when booking online - but it does say 1 King or 2 Queen and something about a sleeper sofa.

Not sure how I can be sure that I have a 2 queen bed room??

Any suggestions/help

Thanks!

You can call back and see if a STandard View is available, I had tried to pre-book a Standard View the past two months with no luck, when I called in on Monday morning with Free Dining they booked me Standard View!! For our family of five the cost was about $330 cheaper than Garden View for 6 nights, if that helps.

On your "My Disney Experience" section on the website you can put special requests as your date grows nearer, that should help make sure you get the two beds :)

Hmm...really wished I had realized that I needed to say garden wing AND standard view when booking because it looks like standard is sold out online. I guess I could call tomorrow.

Wonder if the garden view is really worth the extra??

Thanks for letting me know about making the request on the website regarding the beds though!

Even when I tried to find it online it was never available, I would call, chances are you may be upgraded to garden view as this is a slow season. They have rooms at standard view available...but you have to call and ask :) good luck!

garden view are the ones with the patio - on the first floor =- pretty sure.

think they also face the lagoon instead of pool/hotel.

we have always had 2 queen beds plus daybed (really twin bed) at the Cr.

the rooms are much bigger than most of the deluxes.

I don't know if this is an option for you but when I was trying to decide between CR and BC I found there were no standard views on Disney's travel site for the BC. I went to travelocity and expedia and they both had them, same price and same guaranteed free canceling until July 31st.

So you may want to try one of them. Either that or just keep checking, I know people can "hold" rooms or change their reservations all the time. You're looking for a standard, someone may be looking for a GV and could possibly get one and free up the standard. Just keep trying.

I just checking in a few days ago for our garden view room. The options were these four and you can choose two.

Balcony(which is worthless because there are non in the garden section)
Patio
Near transportation
Odd numbered room( people request in the tower if on MK side to see castle from bed)

I can't believe any of these programmers have ever stayed at a Disney resort, non of the check in items have been helpful/convenient. My last two stays at CSR and Poly were not any different.:badpc:

I wanted to request a king bed room because it is NOT a bookable category at CR but that option was not available.

There are few kings so people looking for 2 Q should be ok.

The standard view rooms in the garden wing are frequently blocked by conference groups and weddings. There is a cut off date where rooms are released back if they are not booked. For our wedding that was 60 days out. I've recently heard its now 90 days. So check around 60/90 days out from your trip and see if any open up.

Thanks everyone for letting me know about the standard view rooms. I may be switching resorts, so we'll see what happens.

The standard view rooms either face the parking lot, or they can face a wall of another section of the resort (rooms near the "t" intersections). Everything else, from pool/marina view, to lake view, to waterway view, is considered garden view. I've booked standard view a few times (and always online) but only actually stayed in one twice. I've typically been upgraded to what I would consider a lesser garden view (think tree blocking view of pool - but still better than a wall).

Standard view are very hard to get, but not impossible. If you do get one, request parking lot view. There are trees to screen the view of the lot, so it's not so bad, and where you can see through, you can usually see the monorail, which is nice. That end of the wing is also closest to the tower.

Also, as far as two beds go, you should have two beds regardless. You will either have a king and a daybed (twin size), or two queens (most also have daybed, but I've had a two queen without the daybed as well). The daybed is a regular twin size and fits even Pooh sized adults comfortably (know this from our experiences). But it doesn't hurt to add a request for two queen beds if that is what you want.
