You deleted your comment but that got me thinking.
Instead of doing as you suggest with booking the 9 nights and then using the OTUP at the end, the poster could do the 9 nights and then walk it one day and book the first night with the OTUP.

We’ve just got our points and I’ve booked 8 nights for next June. What’s confused me is I’ve booked the 8 nights immediately, when I thought you could only book 7 nights in one go?

As noted, the seven night limit applies only when booking home resort exactly 11-months out from date of arrival. The actual maximum number of nights you can book online when making a reservation is 30, but your day of departure from your home DVC resort can never be more than 11-months plus 7-days from the date you go online to do the reservation, e.g., today, Sep 4, 2025, one could go online and book a home resort room for the period July 12 to August 11, 2026.
In all seriousness if there for 10 nights I don't think location is as important as being able to spread out at OKW or picking up the extra bathroom at Kidani.
