is a 2-bedroom better than 2 studios? what are the benefits of a 2-bedroom? Would be $500 ($250 p/couple) extra for a 5 night stay

Is the 2BR better than two studios? Depends what you're after.

A 2BR will have a kitchen, a washer-dryer, and a different sleeping setup assuming you're booking a dedicated 2BR. It also guarantees you're all together. That may be a feature or a drawback. The 2BR also has a really nice master bath the likes of which is not replicated in the studio.

While I'd love to be the couple paying an extra $260 and get the much better master bedroom and bath, I'd hate to split the difference to get basically the same bedroom as a studio. (Unless that couple would prefer the 2 queen beds in a dedicated 2BR vs the typical queen and pullout couch)

The advantage of the 2bd is that you will have a living room to share. The full kitchen comes in handy too, as well as the washer and dryer should you need it. We don't like to come back from a day out and have to hang out on the beds. Having a couch, comfy chair and dining room table is why we own.
As pp mentioned, the master is much nicer than the second bedroom unless they like two queens or the studio setup. Might not be fair to split the cost evenly.
We love the VGF. Enjoy.

If you plan to spend any time at the resort it is most likely worth the extra to have the two bedrooms. The living room area is nice and allows for comfortable conversation, drinks, breakfast etc. I would do it but it depends on how much that money means to both couples.
