We're planning our vacation for May 2008. We're a family of 5 and plan on staying for 2 week. We're looking for an affordable, not-to-expensive hotel or apartment/villa rental with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Does anyone have any info or where can I find this info?
Thank you.

Try www.vrbo.com or www.homeaway.com where you can search under Kissimmee and find loads of condos & townhomes that may suit you :thumbsup2 You will probably find a 3 bedroom will give you just that extra bit of space but still at a reasonable price :)

Good luck with the research :goodvibes

Many of the condo/townhome resorts, like our own, are in gated communities with 24hr security. Our home also has a security system which is centrally monitored :thumbsup2

Because you are staying for two weeks, I highly recommend that you rent a town home or villa. You will not regret having the extra room. Most have two bathrooms which is always a plus. You will also love having a full sized refrigerator to keep drinks and leftovers in. Most have washers and dryers too which will be nice so that you can pack light. I also recommend www.vrbo.com
Many people like the developments in the Formosa Gardens area such as Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms, Indian Creek, Emerald Isle... I would search vacation rentals by owner and when you think you found a place that you are interested in come back here and ask questions about it. These links will help you find the location of various developments.

We're staying in Emerald Island at The Diamond on the Island <owner's website> <vrbo website> in Sept/Oct. 6 bedroom - 5 1/2 baths. 4 of the bedrooms are en suite - meaning the all have a PRIVATE bath - and they are all King Size Beds! The other 2 rooms are Disney themed kid's rooms with 2 twin beds each. They have a full size crib and a Pack N Play as well as a changing table - if you need things for little ones. It's a really nice home and the owner is very easy to work with.

(if you contact them, let them know 'Robin from Colorado' referred you - I don't get anything for it - it's just nice for them to know how you heard about them)

You will find that renting a condo/townhome/villa is a much better value than a suites based hotel room... as long as you can live without maid service and/or room service. The hard part is that there are so many choices., it can be daunting to pick one.

"Not too expensive" is very relative so if you want specific suggestions, you might want to post a price range. Just like hotels, you can find places from $70 ish to $250 ish per night, so just set a budget, then start searching for things in your price range. Most of the places in the Formosa Gardens area of Kissimmee, are about 5-8 min drive to AK, 10-12 min drive to MGM / Epcot and 15 min drive to the TTC parking lot for MK. If you don't mind driving 10-12 additional minutes to the parks then you can get homes out in the Davenport and Champions Gate for a very good rate.

There was a recent post regarding Seven Dwarfs Lane, which is in Kissimmee, and the OP got a rate of $500 (plus tax) for a week. This is a brand new development, but not as posh as Windsor Hills - and it is a little further away from the parks.

Here's some questions to consider when researching what you want. Do you want a full size pool, private splash pool and/or hot tub right at your home? Do you want the community pool to have a zero entry area or children's splash fountain area? How about a playground?

Once you've determined a budget and the amenities that you want, you'll be able to narrow down quite a bit.

Good luck!

Lisa

2 bed condo hotel, leisure pool, pool bar, full kitchen, 2 or 3 bed units, washer dryer, balcony etc.

We've stayed there a few times and booked for July. Look it up on Trip Advisor - very highly rated, some great pics and reviews!
