1. For those of you who travel with booster seats, do you use them on the plane or check them with your luggage or gate check them? We will need to bring it with us b/c we are renting a car.

2. I'm bringing liquid tylenol & cough medicine for the kids. Is it still correct that as long as each bottle is 3oz or smaller I can put them in a quart sized ziploc and bring in my carryon?

Booster seats can't be used on the plane--only car seats approved for airline use can be--so you will need to check them in advance or carry them on the plane. The first may result in a baggage charge (check your airline for their rules) the other will use up one of your two carry-on allowances.

Your plan for liquid Tylenol is fine, but you should know that both prescription and OTC meds, including Tylenol, are exempt from the 3-1-1 limitations for liquids in carry-on bags. These meds can be taken on in quantities larger than 3.4 oz. If you do that, do NOT put them in the 3-1-1 bag with your other liquids (although putting them in a bag in case of leaks is a good idea) and let the screener know that you have them.

Wonderful, thank you!!!!

I didn't think of the additional charge for checking the booster. If I carry on the backless booster, will it fit under the seat?

In March I traveled with a friend and her son who still requires a booster seat. I carried the booster onto the plane and it fit with ease in the over head bin. We were on SW and the agent at the gate reminded me that it had to go in the bin.

BTW, it was a backless model.

Despite what has been posted, there will be no charge to check the booster seat. Car seats and strollers do not count against your baggage allowance on any US airline, (even Spirit!)
