Ok, ok, I admit that a recent thread has me wondering "Just how bad is the noise on the freeway side of building one?".

I got an Entertainment rate, and I was really grateful for it, I am looking forward to staying here.....but...will the freeway side be so distracting that I dislike my stay?

Asking for people who have been there, done that.

If you're concerned, why don't you give a call to in-house reservations and see if you can upgrade to a 2-Queen Deluxe room for an extra $10/night? We've only ever stayed in the Deluxe rooms, so have no basis for comparison. But it's always been very quiet there in building 2.

And yes, I realize you'll be trading a king for 2 queens. DW & I will book this room type even when we don't take along DGD. The queen beds are very comfy. And you get a microwave in your room, in addition to the fridge.

I was considering that. I'm going with my daughter though and she may not want to share a bed (even if it's easier to kick me when I snore ;))

I am hoping they will be accomodating to us when we we ask to placed at the opposite end of the freeway side of the bldg.;)

I'm a city girl...so I'm thinking I can handle it....but I'd like to hear of people's experiences in that particular building.

We stayed one night in the kid’s suite on the 6th floor and the noise was awful. Never again. It wasn't just the traffic but the howling wind that kept us all awake. We moved to building 2 and had a much more pleasant stay.

Honestly, if you are a city girl and are used to sounds at night, I don't think it will be a problem.

We stayed in one of these rooms and yes, you can hear the freeway...but it wasn't that bad. Our room had a fan in the A/C unit, and it drowned out most of the noise. Or bring earplugs if you are really concerned. I heard the freeway the first night, but after that I was so tired from being in in the Parks all day and walking 8 - 10 miles, nothing would keep me awake. Plus, the beds are super comfy!

I would stay in this room again in a heartbeat with the ET rate.

Good luck.

Never bothers me. We were on the freeway side last year and the sound didn't once bother me. But i'm also a city girl

I've been there done that and never heard any freeway noise!

Thanks for all the replies...

I'm not the kind of person that let's the little things get under my skin...I just was curious if it was a deal breaker and for some of you it seems it is, but not most.

I like you humor, but understand your concern. :thumbsup2

Hojo is great with the ent rate.
Hojo is good with the regular rates.
Hojo is mediocre when the guests have trouble sleeping because it's next to a freeway.

I think Bob has the best solution. Perhaps request a room not facing the freeway, or paying for the upgrade to not get one. Perhaps mention the dilemma you saw on the DIS and say you don't want to be put in the same situation.

That makes the 2-Queen Deluxe room ideal for you, then! You get two queen beds, one for each of you; and you'll have a fridge, microwave, and balcony overlooking the garden pool. I'd recommend the upgrade without even considering noise issues.

There are standard Kings located in Bldg 2 at the ET rate. So if your daughter is ok with sharing, you might be able to switch AND not have to pay any extra.;)

Our favorite is building 2 but we just stayed in building 1 last month. I asked for a quiet room and we were placed on the first floor right across from the ice machine (not so quiet!). The freeway noise was loud, but once we figured out how to work the fan, it drowned out the noise and didn't bother us at all. I am typically a light sleeper and bothered by outside noise and I was fine.

We stayed top floor in building one facing the freeway, and I never really ever noticed the noise myself and I am DEFINITELY not from the city. (The town I live in has 3500 people). When I sat there and thought about the freeway, sure I could hear it, but if we were talking, watching tv, or doing something else it really didn't concern us at all.

If you are staying any time of the year you might run the air conditioner at night, then that will most likely create enough noise to distract from something that might bother you.

Now, in saying all that, there are some people that are more sensitive to noises than others. Obviously you can see that from the differences in people's opinions about the freeway noise in building one. If you can sleep through a little noise, I wouldn't worry about it at all. If you are a super light sleeper, then I would suggest either requesting a different room or maybe bring some earplugs or a white noise machine.

But for what its worth, we absolutely loved our room and would not hesitate to stay in the exact spot again. We never heard any noise in the hallway, from other rooms, the elevator, or anything else. We could hear the fireworks from the park (which sounded like hippos jumping and down in the hallway ) but that was only on the first night after we checked in and were not in the parks.

HTH! :goodvibes:thumbsup2
