I was wondering what the Crystal Palace dinner was like. I am taking my DM in May of 2009 and thought it might be fun to do something a little "off the wall" like going to a character dinner. She loves Eeyore, so I thought that Crystal Palace might be fun. Is it odd to see adults without kids at a character dinner? I have never been to one of these. My imagination has kids running and screaming with wild abandon around the tables. What is it really like?

I've been there twice once for Dinner it was myself (21) and my 2 cousins (16 and 22)..It could be beacuse it was a late reservation but it was very quiet and nice.

The next trip it was myself and my brother and we had an 8AM reservation for breakfast....both times was wonderful! I never felt out of place, and there were definitely no screaming kids. I think every 30 minutes they do a birthday parade, where the kids march around the restaurant, but it wasn't chaotic at all! It was great, book it!

Kids running around and scrambling trying to get to the characters?? You should see the adults!:lmao:

I think it would be fine. Truthfully, I don't look around me to see who is dining and I doubt everyone else does either. The times I have been it has been rather calm with the exception of the parade.

Do it! Have fun!

Not odd at all - there will certainly be more families with children; but you won't be the only adults with no kids there by a long shot! I've taken my mom to most of the character meals and she gets a kick out of them - Crystal Palace got the :thumbsup2 for breakfast anyway (never been to dinner there). The only one she thought was a bit too loud was Chef Mickey's (well, I suppose so, but you have to experience it once;) ). Have a good time and your mom will love Eeyore!

My husband (36) and I (28) were there last August for dinner. We did that character meal and a Chef Mickey's breakfast and didn't feel out of place in the least. The characters came around so we could take pictures if we wanted to, but didn't spend too long, or not enough time with us, in our opinions. I say, go for it!

Two of us adults ate there last fall for dinner and returning this fall. I found it to be one of the most organized and relaxed character meals. The kids are brought together for a little parade with characters but other than that, the characters are great about only interacting with each table......and the kids are sent back to their tables. Food was fine for a buffet. Server was excellent.

my husband and I went to Crystal palace three times in the last year and we enjoyed it with and without the kiddos.......the food is great and the characters are sweet ...even with us oldies.....go and have fun and enjoy the buffet

The Crystal Palace is one of my favorite places to dine and dinner is a must on every trip. The food is great. Have done CP solo many times and get the same great service & character interaction as those with families.

DH and I have been going to character meals for years and we love them!

The only time I've eaten there it was just my boyfriend and I (both of us 30-ish), and we didn't feel out of place and both of us thought the food was pretty good for a buffet.

It was crowded with lots of kids though, so not a quiet relaxing dining experience if that's what you're looking for. We didn't mind it, but I know many people who would avoid it for that reason.

Also, we didn't get to see all the characters, not that we really cared, but it seemed like it takes the characters a *lot* longer to make all their rounds at this particular character dining meal than any of the other character meals I've been to. I think we only saw two characters before we were done eating and ready to leave.

Good point-it DID take a long time for them all to come around-we were happy to sit and relax but we did get a little antsy towards the end-ready to get out and have some more fun!

DH and I are in our early 30's and we love Crystal Palace. We were there last month for dinner, and enjoyed it. There weren't many kids running around. For the most part, they sit in their seats waiting for the characters to swing by. The only time they all got up was during the parade which happens every 30 minutes or so, and even then, we found the kids to be well behaved.

The food was decent, but we like breakfast there better so we'll be going for breakfast only from now on, unless it's a party night and we want to be in the park for dinner.

DH (35) and me (33) went there. We don't have kids so it's always just us. We loved CP. We went there b/c I love Eeyore and wanted to see the characters. Our server made sure that all the characters didn't forget us b/c we didn't have kids. She even had one make a special trip b/c we were forgotten. It was great. They posed and played as if we were big kids. I can't wait to go back. BTW, if you go for dinner try the Adobo Pork and the Prime Rib. YUM!!!

Go Go Go!!! You'll enjoy it so much. The food is very good, the characters come to you, I've eaten there 2x and we're going back again in August and I have never seen children running around the place unsupervised. There's a sweet little parade for the children and that's about as wild as it gets. The restaurant is charming. Go for it!!:thumbsup2

i say go for it! We have eaten there many times without kids and find it fun. I go nuts over tigger more than any kid around. The place is also very charming. Must try mashed potatoes.....soooooo good.

Make your ADR's and GO!! don't even hesitate!! ::yes::

My husband and I were married for 10 years before we finally had our daughter and we went to Character Meals EVERY time that we were at Disney. We are about to celebrate our 15th anniversary and now have 3 little ones to take to the meals and I miss all of the attention that I used to get from the characters because they spend all the time at our table with the kids! :lmao:

Crystal Palace is one of our favorites, along with the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club.
Breakfast at CP seems to be the "craziest" time there, I think because the kids are so excited about the day ahead at MK ... an earlier or later than usual dinner is my suggestion, just seems like you get to spend a bit more time with the characters that way. If you want even more time then usual, make sure to ask them a few questions and get them to interact with you ... I think sometimes when they see a table of just adults they stop for pictures/autographs and then move on thinking that the adults might not want to "play" ... also, wearing anything with one of the characters on it (shirt, earrings, pin, etc.) will certainly get you a bit of extra attention!

Have a wonderful trip! Jennie

My husband and I don't have children and always do a character dining at one of the restaurants.

When the characters come over we take a quick pic and then they go on their way. My DH and I are happy with the pic, we don't really need them fooling around with us...maybe when we have kids.

It always a fun time and the crystal palace was a very nice when we went. Enjoy!
