YEA!:cheer2: After much persuasion, DH is heavily considering our second trip to WDW this Thanksgiving. Of course, budget is a big factor and he is very frugral. We stayed at AS Movies last time and were quite pleased, esp for the price. If it were up to him, we could win the lotto and he'd stay at a Value, LOL.

So far we were looking at the Pop Century. We have 2 DDs (7, 10). The rooms would accommodate us, but I would really love to have a bit more room to spread out. Also, bathroom situation can get hectic. I was kicking the idea around of getting a suite at AS Music. It would give a bit more room, and the second bathroom. BUT...it is over double the price? Would we be better off getting 2 adjoining regular rooms? Are both of those options overkill for a family of 4 on a budget?

two connecting rooms at a value are cheaper than the suites.

but the suites have a refrigerator (which cost exta at a value) and mircowave, plus coffee maker and toaster.

so I think they are about equal if you use that stuff.

I'm thinking exactly as you are! We are booked for ASMo for the first week of November with connecting rooms b/c we love to spread out as well (DH,Me and DS 5 & DS 6), and the cost is only about $15 per day more for the suites and like the previous poster wrote, you get a microwave, fridge and coffeepot...all great in my book. However, ASM books up fast, I'm calling every week to see if one becomes available before September when the money is due. Wish me luck, and I hope you get want you want for your trip over Thanksgiving!

Just an FYI

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

The only thing I would watch though is that the regular rooms may get a discount code and the suites never do. We saved ourselves over $500 this past Feb by switching from the suite to 2 adjoining at POP.

No one mentioned yet but keep in mind that they cannot guarantee you connecting rooms. They only time they can GUARANTEE this is if there are not enough adults for there to be one in each room. Since you have two adults in your party you may or may not get the connecting rooms. Just something to think about if that changes your mind at all.

If you go over to the DVC boards and look at the listings for renting you can get some good deal there. I have never done this (I own 150 points, and I have never rented out my points because we use them all), but I love the DVC resorts for the extra space, the balcony, and mini kitchenette (in studios). There is free laundry facilities and no taxes on the room.

Other than that, I wouldn't take the chance of not getting a connecting room at Pop. The family suites are probably really nice. My "dream" is to one day stay in the cabins at FW, but with our DVC, we usually stay there or when we are out of points we stay at Pop in one room (4 of us) to save money. But one day---we are going to stay in the cabins!

I've been called a "Disney Freak". . . which I love because, well, I guess I am. (I don't know why people would think that -- could it be our Disney bathroom, our Disney kitchen ware, our Disney CD's which are played ad nauseam in my van, or the fact that we go to WDW every year????)

Now, having said that, I have to confess something. . . and I can't believe I didn't know this, but. . . THE VALUE RESORTS HAVE SUITES?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?! Does anyone have a picture of a room?

I'll await someone's post whilst I hang my head in Disney shame. :guilty:

Remember there is a difference between adjoining and connecting rooms. Connecting rooms there is a door separating the two rooms so you have access to that room from the inside, adjoining means they are two completely separate rooms that are just next to each other with their own door and of course which you have to access to from the inside.

Thinking about taking DD and a friend to WDW next April for graduation present (a little early -- they will graduate middle school in June 08). Thinking two connecting/adjoining rooms so the girls can have one room (and bath) and DH and I can have the other room/bath. Due to their ages (13), I would prefer the ability to have an interior door we can access to their room -- so when I make a reservation am I asking for a "connecting" room or an "adjoining" room? I understand they will also have their own exit room into the hallway.

Also, are these types of rooms available in moderate and deluxe resorts? We've always stayed in one room on previous trips -- just thinking now of two teenagers and how an extra bathroom might be worth it.

Thanks!

The photos on allears are outdated. Those photos were taken of a model that was never used.
Disney decided to go with another floor plan.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no meatle bar to hurt the sleepers back.

An interior door between the rooms would be connecting.
