During the 2/9/2011 show, it was mentioned that "the quarterback" for the winning Super Bowl team gets to go to the parade at the Magic Kingdom.
This isn't correct.
The player voted as the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Super Bowl is the one who gets to do the "I'm Going to Disney World!" commercial and parade.
The winner of this award is chosen by a fan vote during the game and by a panel of 16 American football writers and broadcasters who vote after the game.
This year, that happened to be Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The quarterback isn't always the MVP. In the 45 Super Bowls, the quarterback of the winning team has been MVP 24 times. The second-most chosen position is Running Back (7) and then Wide Receiver (6).
Interestingly, the player does not have to be on the winning team. But the only time that happened was in 1971, which was before the Disney commercials started. I'm not sure what would happen with the Disney commercial if that occurred again.
