12 more days till disney! We are staying at the Pop...but I am getting nervous about my 2.5 yr old in a Pac N Play. He hasn't been in one of those since he was one. He could definately climb out now, I think. ANyone else ever had their 2.5 yr old in a Pac N Play? Are full size cribs non-existent at the value resorts?

I would be worried about him tipping it over as a toddler is definitely over the safe weight limits - my 2.5 year old daughter is 36 lbs and can lift up her cousin who is 10 lbs. more than her, so kids at that age are very strong. You could contact A Baby's Best Friend to rent a crib (although not much room in a value for that) as Disney does not have cribs available. Can he not sleep in a bed (not sure how many are in your room)?

I'd also be worried about tipping (and jumping and craziness - at least by my DS2). Athough my DS is a very active sleeper and hasn't been able to sleep in a PnP since he was about 12 months old. We bought a children's aero bed for our DS about 6 months ago and have traveled with it twice. We've put it agains a wall both times and surprisingly he only "fell" out once each trip. Is your DS still in a crib or in a toddler or big bed? If he's still in a crib you could look into rental from A Baby's Best Friend (abbf.com) or Children's Furniture Rental (407-522-0233). We rented a crib one time from the latter and had a great experience.

Like others have said - he may be at the upper end of using it, only you know for sure! If you have one or can borrow one consider trying him in it for a nap prior to the trip and see how he does.

The WDW resorts won't have a full size crib available but you could rent one at abbf.com. The resorts will give you bed rails for free, maybe he could manage in the bed with one parent and bed rails?

If you decide to use a cot or aerobed make sure and bring along a nightlight and a child proofing kit in case he decides to go for a walk at night. My nephew does fine with a readybed, small airmattress with a sleeping bag attached. Very inexpensive and easy to travel with, my neice however requires the extra expense of my sil renting the full size crib!

Have a great trip.

My DD used the pak n' play a couple times and it was fine for her. The last time she slept in it she was 2-3/4 years. She is small for her age and I didn't worry about her trying to get out. At 6 now she is 42" and 41 pound (still small for her age). In Dec. 2003, when she was 4, the pak and play was too small. Since then we've had her sleep most of the times on the floor, between the two beds (maybe a couple of times in bed with me or her grandma). We make her a bed with extra linens and towels. She likes it. One of her favs things to do at home is sleep on her grandma's floor. However, on our last two trips I did bring a blow up twin mattress that I picked up at Target for about $10 and the rechargeable blower was another $10 It only weighs about 3# so I'm not too concerned about our luggage being too heavy on the plane. It works out great-much better than getting a roll away for $10/night and having to walk around it all day. The blow up mattress even slides under some of the beds (POFQ) so you don't have to deflate it everyday.

Have a great time.

Our ds 23 mo just slept between us. IDK if that is something you would want to do, but it worked fine for our family.

Our almost 2 year old DS just slept in my bed wth me. I had a bed rail for his side. If he hasn't been in a pack n play since he was 1, I would think you might have a hard time getting him to sleep in it now. :confused3

My 2 yo wouldn't sleep it a pack-n-play, and I'd be afraid of him getting hurt while getting out. When we travel now, he just sleeps in the bed with us. He isn't in a crib at home either.

Thank you all so much for your advice! I was hesitant to put him in the pac n play, and now I think I definately won't. He is very tall and very active, so I would be worried about him getting hurt while climbing out. There are 2 adults and 3 kids in our value...so I think I will just have daughter, who is 11, bring a blow up twin mattress and sleep on the floor. I will get bedrails for the bed that he can share with his 4 yr old brother. Thanks again!!!!! :goodvibes

Just wanted to make sure you double check the occupancy for POP. I have heard about people being half way through their stay and getting kicked out when mousekeepers realized they had too many people in their room (usually value resorts are 4 MAX plus an infant (under 1....I think). Just letting you know - would hate for someone to get kicked out - with children - on a family vacation. I thought about chancing it myself, but it's not worth being stuck at Disney without the extra resources to upgrade to a deluxe to accomodate the family.

Just FYI.............

No problem OP - the max is 4 plus a child under 3, nobody is going to get kicked out! It will be tight but doesn't exceed the maximum occupancy.

Its going to be VERY tight with an airbed as the rooms are small, @260 sq ft. If the airbed can slide under one of the double beds that will give you more room during the day.

Have fun

We went to WDW in December with DS 2.5. DS slept on the floor...we put the extra blanket, folded, on the floor and covered him with his blanket from home. After the first day, mousekeeping noticed his "bed" and gave him his own smaller comforter (I guess the ones they use for the twin beds since we were at WL). At first I was against it, but then DH reminded me that the folded blanket was actually thicker than the pack-n-play!

There is NO way my 2.5 year old would sleep in a PNP. He was in a toddler bed by 16 months and a twin bed by his second birthday though. My dd actually prefers a PNP to a crib when she's not sleeping with me, but she's only 14.5 months.

Our son was 2.75 when we went to WDW last Fall. He is also pretty tall for his age and he slept happily in a PnP that CSR provided. It seemed like the WDW version of a PnP is bigger than the one we have at home, which he outgrew a long time ago.

Maybe it was a Pack N Play sport. I was given one of these at a hotel in Toronto when my DS was 6 weeks old. It was bigger (yet rickety) but I was SOOOO glad I bought a travel bassinet at the last minute because there was no way I would put him in that PNP - the hotel simply folded up a king size sheet and put it in, not a fitted sheet. With a 6 week old, I don't think so!

DS is now 22 months and we will be staying at the Poly for his 2nd b-day. I requested bed rails but he also has a cute Pooh inflateable toddler bed that came with a travel bag and pump. Its the size of a backpack when deflated and I may take that just in case since he's never slept with rails before and he's a crazy, all over the place sleeper.

Does anyone know if the bed rails will fit on the daybed in the room at the Poly? If not will my 12 year old niece fit comfortably on that bed if my DS has to take the queen bed with the rails? (This issue is why I'm thinking of maybe taking the inflatable but we are flying and one less item would be nice). Thanks!

Are you flying or driving? Just a thought...we have a Thomas chair for our DS2 that folds out like a bed. It was around $30 at TRU. I've seen them at Wal-Mart and Target too. If you were driving you could load it up and take it with you. That's what we did on a quick trip to visit family in Illinois. We were staying in a cheap hotel that didn't offer anything like a PnP or crib. So we took his Thomas chair and used it as a bed. He did fine in it. Then in the morning we just folded it up so it didn't take up much space.

Just a thought.

We were there in January and brought our Pack n Play from home (drove) and my 2 1/2 year old slept like a log in it. She was asleep right when her head hit the pillow and hardly moved all night. She is a tall girl and could have easily climbed out but she was too tired. It worked perfectly.

We have that inflatable Pooh toddler bed too and brought it with us to the Poly in December (and my daughter was 22 months old too!). We ended up not using it, or even inflating it, because we just did the daybed and put the rails on it. We got 2 of them and lined the whole daybed side and then put pillows on the floor by the top and bottom of the daybed just in case she fell off on those sides (cause there weren't really rails on that side built into the daybed). She's a very active sleeper too so we took precautions! Of course everytime she woke up and realized she was in the daybed in a strange place (which was almost every night of the trip) she called for us to take her in our bed, which we did rather than lose sleep. I wonder though, if she had been in the Pooh bed if she would have done that cause she slept in that at home for about 2 months so she was used to it.

dd will be 3 weeks shy of 3 when we go in Sept and I plan on her using the PNP. Last year we put it right between the wall and the bed - so there wouldn't be any issue with her getting hurt trying to climb out. I'm curious why some pp would be worried about injury climbing out of a PNP but not a crib - I'd rather have dd climb out of a PNP any day.

If necessary she'll sleep between dh and I (but I hope not - I won't get much sleep).

And I'm with you - my sister is joining us at ASMo and we have a ds4 - so we'll have plus one under 3 in our room too!
