2,3,4...how many visits home per year?

How often does everyone go home? Do you save points and stay in a studio, or go all out and stay in a 1-2 bedroom?

Our standard plan-One trip....10 or more days in a studio, but I think we are the exception not the rule. Occasionally we will be banking and borrowing to take some family members and will stay in larger accomodations.

We have enough points for a Spring Break week together with myself, dh, the kids and my parents. Since we have come to love OKW, there will be enough extra points for a 2nd trip with just us 4, in a studio somewhere. So twice a year for us... that's as long as I can stand between visits!

DH has a conference next June and it's in Orlando so that's an extra trip!

2 Times with the family in a 2 Bedroom. Once in the spring and once in the fall 9 days each and 1 time with the girls in a 1 bedroom for a long weekend.

We normally do one WDW trip in SEpt., Oct or Dec-staying in a 1 bedroom Sun-Sun..and 1 HH trip in June staying in a 1 bdrm Sun-Fri.
For our WDW trip we use our BW points and bank the leftovers, for our HH trip, we use our HH points, but always need to borrow from our HH point allowance,as we have a 100 pt HH contract and our stay is 110 pts.
Sometimes we sneak in an extra trip. Last year I took my mom and we stayed in a studio using the leftover BWV points.

The plan- Two planned trips per year reserving a 2br. If closer to the trip we don't have any guests, we will try to switch to a 1br.

The spontaneous- If I could get my wife to fly, I would like to do a couple additional, shorter trips throughout the year in a studio.

I guess for us that might depend on how you want to count it.

Example: We go to DVC for a week when we first get to Florida. Then off to other places for 2 or three weeks, but again stopping at DVC the 4th week before leaving Florida and going on to somewhere else.

Is that counted as 1-trip 'home' or as 2-trips?

If you go to WDW one week and then follow it up with a stop at VB or at HH, is that all the same trip, or does it count as 2-trips.

If I count it as DVC check-ins at the front desk, then the least we've had in the last 3 years is twice a year, and the most was probably in 2002 when we had 7 check-in's, 34 days total, 3-different resorts.

Once/year x 7 days in a studio (family of 3) ; we bank points and use them as well off-site. We're heading for Stowe, Vermont later in August.

With AP, we are going 5 times this year. Next year, we will check out VB and HH, and then get AP again for 2005.

We used to go once a year until 2003 hit! Now, with 2 trips under our belts for this year ( a 7 day in Feb. and a 9 day in March) we still have 3 trips coming up before year's end. A 6 day Sept. trip to use some points before they expire, a 4 day trip on Oct. for F&W (although we probably won't be able to get in a DVC resort for this, but we have reservations at the Yacht Club), and finally our big 17 day trip for the last 1/2 of November.

You can see why I decided to purchase DVC!!

We've been members for 1 and 1/2 years so we don't have much of a track record but to date we've been 3 times on the 1st years points doing a 1 bdrm twice and a studio once for 5 (S-Thur) nights. So far this year we've been once in a 2bdrm, plan to go again in the fall in a studio, and may go in the Spring in another studio.

Looks like a pattern of 3 times a year is forming.

I usually go to WDW in Dec for 2 weeks, then return in mid-Jan for 4 weeks. I normally stay in a studio if I'm solo or if DH flies down to "visit" me. (This fall, we're giving the F&W Fest a try--I may be "forced" into taking 3 trips a year.)

Usually 2 week long trips plus a shorter 4 or 5 day trip; all in a 1 bedroom.

I'm trying to get our vacation pattern organized... Currently we're all over the map, literally and figuratively

Generally, we go twice a year. Our summer vacation starts almost immediately after school gets out. In Houston, that Memorial Day weekend.

We also do thanksgiving week every year.

In the future, I'm thinking about adding a non-DVC timeshare, to use as trades, allowing us to do WDW every other summer in an upgraded room (2BR vs 1BR currently), and thanksgiving every year in a 2BR. In off years, we go see the world beyond the world

My kids have no idea how spoiled they are...

I also sometimes do a long weekend with friends in February, non-DVC.

Twice. Once in late May or early June with DH, DS and a buddy for a week. Second trip is usually just a few days for DH and I to go to the Food & Wine Fest.

Oh I wanna live in the US and go several times a year!!!!

We bought enough points so that we can go 2 years out of every 3 and stay for 14 nights in a studio, we're currently adding on so that we can upgrade that to a 1-bed (still 2 out of 3 years).

Hope to add on again in a few years so that we can do the 1-bed for 14 nights every year.

We became members in 98 and took one trip a year to BWV. That quickly became two trips and sometimes three once we bought OKW in 2002! When we got into DVC, we just wanted to keep coming back.

I thought we could go once every other year and stay in a 2BR for one week.

Now that I've been "home" for the first time, I want to go every year, but can only stay in a 2BR for 4 or 5 nights. It's either add-on or do the "stay in a value or moderate for Fri. and Sat. night" thing, which I swore I would never do!

It's so addictive!

We average 2-4 trips a year in a one bedroom (just DH and I). We almost always go in May and October, sometimes December and may add a long weekend or last-minute trip in if we're feeling antsy.
