I wanted to share my latest trip to Disney, and it was done Military way. For those who are fortunate enough to be Military or Retired Military, Shades of Green is the way to go. Especially now if you are a deployed soldier, the Stars & Stripes package is definitely not to turn down. If you can book that trip before Dec 23, DO IT! For 1, the soldier is FREE (yes, Disney actually said FREE) for 5 days. The sponsors & family is $99 (yes, there is a person limit I believe). Depending on your rank, going to Disney could be pretty inexpensive.
This trip, since my husband is deployed & not coming home on R&R, I decided to go to disney for my birthday. Well, what better way to spend it then with your best friend, who almost shares the same birthday as yourself. So I twisted her arm to do it (didn't take much though) & we went. Airfare we scoped out on Southwest, got it for $54 each way per person. Then, SOG is based on rank, my husband is an E-5, so it was $93 a night + $5 a night for parking. We rented a car via Avis thru priceline, turned out to be around $114 I believe for the whole week (ford focus, small car). Tickets were on the S&S package (which we confirmed, you did not need to have his orders to obtain the tickets, nor did the soldier had to be present), $99 each, so a total of $200 for 2 tickets (1 park per day for 5 days, no experation or hopper). So total for 2 for 5 days was around $1000. I couldn't believe it! And this included airfare & rental!
The room at Shades was very spacious, the toilet had it's own room seperate from the sinks, microwave & a private balcony. We were lucky enough to have a room that was able to see the fireworks from Wishes. The transportation was decent as well. Although the bus from DTD was out of the way, but all in all, it was good.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANY MILITARY PERSONELL TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AFFORDABLE PACKAGE!
