1st week of January

So excited! Called yesterday and got OKW for Jan 1 thru 6. Realized our schools don’t go back til the 9th and thought why not! Will have APs and only 50 pts so we'll give up family gifts for a trip to the World! Do u think it will b crowded?

You'll be there for the marathon. Don't try to get to the MK or Epcot early on Sat or Sun.

Actually, you will not be there for the marathon days, Jan 7 and 8. As to the crowds: expect huge crowds the first three days. The holiday crowd does not start to leave until Tuesday and it does not really get lighter until Wednesday. Also, like you, there are many whose schools are out the entire week That is becoming more common for the break time these days and thus crowds will actually be somewhat large even Wednesday through Friday (that's how it was in 2011).

As to weather be prepared for anything. 2011 was good with day time temps usually in the 70s every day. 2010 was ... well it was something one tries to but cannot forget. Freezing everyday with highs in the 40s and lows in the evening and night in the 20s. There were even snow showers one day.

We were there in January 2010. Yes it was very very cold and we're from Minnesota!! We wore winter jackets, hats and gloves for the first half of our trip.

We were there once over NYE and early January and we spent a lot of time at BB because the temps were in the 80's. You just never know.

We love that first week of January, but the weather certainly is unpredictable. We have been there in January at 90 degrees but we have also been there at 29 degrees. Just prepare for everything, and you'll enjoy it all.
