Is it busy? Like as busy as opening crowds at F&W? I couldn't find a thread to the event anywhere, even searched for it. :flower3: It's hard finding a week in spring for F&G that my mom and I can do, but one of weeks we can do is the first week in March, which is of course opening week. While most of the crowd calendar says it could be low, I can imagine there might be uptake by locals to see the gardens? We really don't want to go if it's super busy or very hot, but we really planning this trip to see F&G so it's getting tough. :)

We are having to plan around my son's college spring break which falls the week of March 7, which is the first week of F&G so that is when we are going. We went last year in May and I've been the first week in April and really couldn't tell the difference between either of those weeks. Since it should still be cool there, I would think other than the weekends, there wouldn't be many locals out and about. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it, like I said, I've been in April and May which are both supposed to be crowded and didn't have any problems at all.

F&G does not attract crowds the way F&W does. Not even close. Whereas people plan their vacations and visits around F&W, F&G is more of a "nice to look at if you are there" kind of thing. This may be one of the reason why they have upped the ante in the food kiosk department lately. Perhaps they are trying to transform it from F&G to F&F thinking that "Food" will make it more of a destination event.

We've gone the first week of March for the past two years, and will be going again at the same time this year. As JimmyV said, F&G doesn't really increase the crowd levels at all. You might have a few minutes' wait at a kiosk if you want to buy food, but even that is nothing compared to F&W. In terms of touring, it should feel like any other (relatively low-crowd) day. And, Epcot will look beautiful, so enjoy.

Oh my gosh! Thanks for the reassurance everyone!. Now I feel a bit better about the possibility of doing opening week! We are gardeners so F&G this is actually more than a draw for us the F&W!

It won't be either super busy or hot, although you can never guarantee the weather. AVERAGE highs are in the low 70s. Crowd levels are low to moderate. Have a look at the crowd calendars. I like easyWDW.

70s is perfect weather, though we don't mind if it gets a bit colder or warmer than that. It was better than the alternative for May where it gets up to 80/90s. My mom just can't do WDW in the heat because of an illness.

It definitely can get into the 80's, though. Last year, during our early March trip, we had several days with highs in the mid-80's, with a real feel around 90. There wasn't the summer-level humidity, so it didn't feel as hot and uncomfortable as it does during the summer, but it was quite warm. Of course, we also had a couple of cool days where we were in jackets. So, make sure you pack for all kinds of weather at that time of year.

That's okay. A dry 80 is better than a muggy-feels-like-100-degrees 80s. We usually tour 8am - 12pm and then 6pm-9pm, so we at least try to tour during the cooler parts of the day. When I went on my solo trip last May I knew my mother would not be able take the humidity if she came along, so I kinda want to avoid that for her.

We will pack for both cool and hot! Thanks for the tip!
