***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

NEW TOPIC (or assignment rather):

I know a lot of people are feeling overwhelmed about the 60 day window and FP+ booking so here is a way to start:

When is your FP+ window open?
When are you planning to book your FP+ for 7DMT? (and how many are you booking?)
When are you planning to book your FP+ for FEA? (and how many are you booking?)
What is your third most important FP+?

IMO if you can answer these 3 questions, you will be fine for booking at the 60 day window. ANYTHING else truly can be changed around with quite some time. I just checked FP+ for 30 days out and it is available for everything except those two. Maybe not every time all day but it is available. Also it's good to discuss our thoughts.

For me, I will go first.

mine opens 10/3

I have 3 MK "days" when I can book FP+ and I'm honestly not sure what I should aim for at this point. They are toward the end of my trip, so that is actually a good thing I think. I am not fussed about when I get it - last time we went we rode it in the morning of our last day because it was all I could get. I think I might aim for sometime during our last day as well - because the other two times I will be there after dark. Does anyone know if this is better during the day or after dark? I actually have no idea. I may book it once at night and once during the day but I don't remember it being my favorite.

For FEA I have decided to target the 7:30-8:30 time frame on my epcot day. I know that is specific but I think it will be easier to grab one later in the day (most people with princesses who are dying to ride it are going to want to grab it earlier in the day I think) than hinge my plans on getting it first thing. I know this pretty much kills my ability to get a 4th FP+ for the day but with SDFP I think I can manage the rest of the Epcot day ok. I am just planning for the one FP+ - kiddo is not frozen crazy but he is Soarin' crazy and I admit it is one of my all time favorite rides too... we are going to both RD it and FP+ it on two separate days.

My 3rd FP+ that I feel is important to book is the 9am Safari (or close to it) on my AK day. Checking availability 30 days out, the early morning safaris go first - the first available for me 30 days out is 12:10am. This is kind of important to the flow of my AK day because I plan to do EMH and do the dinoland stuff and then do safari before my 9:45TH breakfast. There are a few shows I want to fit in and it is kind of a short day so cross your fingers. I'm a little nervous because it is the first day of my vacation so more likely to overlap with people who are from the previous week and will have already booked the good safaris!

Who's next? Would love some input on 7DMT because I am truly at a loss as to how to plan my MK days! anyone else have any feelings about what are better daytime vs. nighttime rides?
I know I have tons of questions about this, and I'll probably have more as we closer! ( I know we're already so close!) but thanks for posting this!!

I do know when my window opens up. But, I was wondering how we go about selecting our days. I saw on YouTube it seems a calendar pops up with my trip highlighted. Then, do I just randomly select the five days one at a time to book? How does it know to stop me from booking more than my 5 day tickets? Does it say something like "sorry, you do not have any more day tickets" when I try to click on a sixth day or something?

I plan to ride the 7dmt during the emm. But, I think I would like to try to get a fp for it again on my last mk day since that's probably more likely to get, and since we'd already have ridenit, it hopefully will be ok. We'll have three days there, too. I think the second would be another pooh, which I've never been on...but my daughter loves pooh so I'd like to have an extra after emm. It's hard to know not having been on the ride! :)

Glad you brought up fea!! It's the only Epcot fp I think we'd be interested in. But, I am slowly convincing myself to give soarin a shot! If I book only one fp that day , for fea, and then I use it, can I right away try to book another tier 1 (soarin) in Epcot for that same day? Likely only getting something later If that is available.
Or, I actually prefer your idea @Lisa F for Epcot. Just quickly grab a later fea to be more likely to get one.
Sorry I think this may have been discussed a few days ago!

Still debating on ak! I have never been, and I'm not sure which attractions we'd enjoy more. I've read so much lately about how it really is a great park despite it having the 1/2 day reputation? I have to go ahead and check out some things on YouTube here I think. There's just so much I don't know about, aside from the suggestions I get here :) so thanks everyone!

Oh! And I'm not sure what the next most important fp would be after fea and 7dmt...id have to say maybe btmrr or splash mountain :)... Or RoL :) OR if they happened to come with a joy/sadness/ baymax one!!! I'd put that at the top of my list :)

Oh!! One more question. Again, know there's a thread ... :) trust you all more... It's ok if no response :)

SDFP
- is it really this easy? I have extra bands I purchase for all 6 of us. I Link them up on extra MDE. Is this dummy band only good for one chosen park day like a disposable? Or do you actually reuse it every single park day when I enter each park, go to a kiosk, and select 3 of whatever is left that day?

from what I have read, 60 days from your check in day your entire vacation opens up. THIS INCLUDES SPLIT STAYS (unlike ADRs, for some reason the system can link all of your reservations for FP+) so you can book 60+ length of stay. it is related to length of stay not number of days on your ticket. your ticket is good for the number of days purchased for 14 days after first use... so you can use a 4 day ticket over a 2 week visit if you want. the system does not limit your fp+ choices to just 4 days though, it's based on length of stay. I guess they assume people won't be making fp+ for days when they can't get in the parks. what would be the point? But it is 60+ days from your check in date.

you need to go on Soarin'. I don't think you can let your FP+ expire and then immediately book another tier 1 but i'm not sure about that. You can RD Soarin' pretty successfully though, with the extra theater and FEA being more popular/harder to get I would just do that.

AK has never been my favorite but I guess on the last trip with his dad my kid fell in love with the dinoland attractions and they ended up going back to do them again the last day. So I am going on a day when it is EMH and my plan is to go straight to dinoland (everything is open) and let him ride that stuff to his heart's content for the better part of an hour, then Safari, then breakfast at TH at 9:45. I LOVE the flights of wonder show and loved festival of the lion king so those two are on our must do also. Beyond that I'm not sure - kiddo was meh on finding nemo show (I liked it well enough but not enough to go out of my way for it). Now that i am looking at my AK plans an 11:30-12:30 safari FP+ would work followed by a 12:30-12:50 FP+ for festival of the lion king. Here is my AK day so far:

EMH morning:
8am head to dinoland. he loves primevial whirl and dinosaur and triceratops spin. Ride those for 45 minutes or so. then head to
9am Safari (FP+ 9-10am)
right after safari check into TH (early)
9:45am Tusker House breakfast
11:30am - 12:00 flights of wonder
wander africa until 12:30
1:00pm - 1:30pm Festival of the Lion King (FP+ 12:30-12:50)
1:45ish It's tough to be a Bug (SDFP 1:30-2:30)
2:15ish Everest (FP+ 2-3pm)
wander asia
3:00pm Y&Y

the 11:30-12:30 FP+ for safari could work out ok because if flights of wonder is over at 12 and we get there by 12:15, we should be able to be back at festival of the lion king by 12:50. The FP+ gives us a later window to show up than I'd be comfortable doing standby. In fact I am wondering if I should utilize SDFP to try to book a second safari during that time period anyway (i could book it more like 12-1 if I don't have to worry about a festival of the lion king conflict).

that's my AK plan though. It is kind of short and sweet but hits all of my high points.

I'm totally clueless for FP- bookings...
I'm going to me working on my plan this afternoon and will.post when done.

The ones I know I will try for...
12/3 9am safari AK
12/4 FEA - hopefully around 1pm ( that will be our second Epcot morning) will book Soaring on 11/30

I look forward to everyone's advice and plans!

We are 16 days away!! Eeek

Thanks !! And I edited my post before to add that I actually prefer your idea of trying for fea later in the day. No use on clicking and hoping for an earlier time just to waste time trying I think!

So you can make fp for any and all of your trip days?? Say I'm not sure yet if I'm going to add a park day before the trip..id be allowed to just book fp for 6 or even 7 days? Not just the five park dat ticked I have linked in MDE and have all of my plans for? Isnt that kinda like saving fp you may not but may use??

Oh!! One more question. Again, know there's a thread ... :) trust you all more... It's ok if no response :)

SDFP

Or do you actually reuse it every single park day when I enter each park, go to a kiosk, and select 3 of whatever is left that day?
the band is good "forever." So yes the easiest and safest way is to make a dummy MDE, buy bands and link them up and then you can use them for SDFP. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU BUY YOUR BANDS THAT YOU REQUEST THEM TO BE UNLINKED!!! that's the only caveat. "helpful" CMs will want to link them to your MDE account, once they are linked to your MDE account they are "clones" of any other MBs you have and you can't change what they are linked to.

Then yes, you can use them for SDFP, ONLY at a kiosk and ONLY in the park you are in at the moment and ONLY what is left that day.

It gets more complicated when people don't want the spend the $$ on magicbands, and then there are convoluted ways to do the same like moving around tickets or buying old cards or adding people to your reservation. But if you don't go there then yes it is as simple as what you said.

that is the one I REALLY want too. When does your window open? (I can't remember if you are early or later). I bet that one goes real fast esp on an EMH morning :(

Our window opens in 16 days! September 27...
I'm also debating if I should let my TA book them or do it myself. Other than the actual room booking and the initial ADRs (all of which except 1 I have changed) I've done everything myself.

I'm nervous that she woukd book FEA first, then7DMT and Safari. Then go back an fill in the rest

Oh she also booked our pontoon boat and twilight Safari....

um no brainer. book it yourself. no joke. There is NO WAY I would leave that up to someone else.

Also since you open up 6 days before I do you can let me know how FP+ availability is for AK. I'm guessing i won't be able to get it that day because I am competing with people like you :-p :) lol. I guess I could always go standby there more like 8:45 during EMH too. If you end up dropping that FP+ you will have to let me know :)

This sounds awesome!! I think my girls would love the Dino stuff :) and they went to a bird show at the zoo and now they play bird show at home with their stuffed animals :) so that one is a must do.. I saw lion king in London and balled my eyes out! So this is must do for us too :) right now I have the split am pm ak visit that you suggested!! I think it will be perfect! At first I was really hoping to get it all in one day, but I'm not too concerned about the split anymore.

IMO flights of wonder is a best kept secret of AK. It was always my second favorite thing there after the safari. In 2014 it was down for refurb while I was there and I was so sad, I really wanted to take my kiddo to it. It is "not to be missed" for me this time. It's a fun show that teaches you a lot of facts about the birds and they wrap it up in a cute little story about a tour guide who is afraid of birds (played by an actor of course) who comes to learn about and love birds by the end. Yes it is a little corny. Yes I am a little corny. I just love that show and the birds are beautiful and majestic.

1.When is your FP+ window open?
2.When are you planning to book your FP+ for 7DMT? (and how many are you booking?)
3.When are you planning to book your FP+ for FEA? (and how many are you booking?)
4.What is your third most important FP+?

1.My FP+ window opens 9/29.
2. I'll be booking FP for 7DMT on 11/29, 12/1, 12/4, and 12/6
3. I'll be booking FEA on 12/2 and 12/5 and hopefully also on 11/30
4. My 3rd most important FP+ is probably BTMRR. It sounds like they're going to make some big, fun changes during the current refurb and I think that could push this ride to be one of the most popular FP's (behind 7dmt and FEA for sure, but right up there). I'll be looking for BTMRR on the same days as 7DMT.

10/4 is my booking date and I'm not sure about FEA and 7DMT yet. For 7DMT, I only need one fastpass for one day since we can rider swap that. We won't ride more than once. FEA... I'd probably go for one at 12/9...? Or 12/7 only if I can find an early one... I have a rough plan for my earlier days but after 12/8 I'm lost...

@Lisa F i think most rides do not make a difference between day time and night time except for roller coasters that pass through outside? Or maybe dumbo and jungle cruise too? Other than that, I can't really think of any that would be a different experience.

If I book only one fp that day , for fea, and then I use it, can I right away try to book another tier 1 (soarin) in Epcot for that same day?

I just read the FP FAQ thread and you can not only book 1 tier 1 FP to kind of cheat the system and get another tier 1. You have to do (or let expire) the two tier 2 FPs also before you can get another tier 1.

You have to link them to a dummy MDE?

The "scary" rides are a bit more scary at night, I think. Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Dinosaur (simply because you walk out into the dark night), BTMRR, 7DMT, Expedition Everest, and ToT are all ones I hear mentioned from time-to-time that are somehow better or different at night.

Now I am wondering if MAYBE I should plan for the 2:30 flights of wonder show. We have Y&Y at 3pm and they are right next door (can probably show up 5-10 minutes late for that?)

So it would be dinoland stuff for EMH and then we could mosey on over to T
You have to link them to a dummy MDE?
yes you have to link them to a dummy MDE profile. You can either make more "friend" profiles and link them to your own or you can make an entirely new MDE with a new email address and link them there. Some people like to do that because they feel it keeps them completely separate. Others like to have them linked under the same account because you can see those FPs on the app after you book them at the kiosk (though this appears to only work sometimes).

I think you could. How long is the flights of wonder show? It's an odd time too so I think it should be ok.

I'm also hoping ROL would show a little later. The second day I have open for it is after 4pm HDDR :)

it's a half hour show but literally the entrances are right next to each other. I would probably be there 5 min late but 10 min at the most. I just worry about dinner running too long!

It is a favorite of ours as well.
