1st week of December 2013 Support Group

I'm not having a pity party anymore. We decided to just move the entire trip way up to the last week of Sept. and first week of October. We won't get to see the xmas decorations that we love but we love Halloween and I was able to book under the current FD promotion for 10 nights. That trip may or may not happen depending on when and if children are placed with us since we are getting ready to be licensed as foster parents but it gives me something to look forward to after spending our entire summer going through training and the licensure process. We need a vacation and hopefully we will have a little one to take with us!

Alicia...I'm like you, my pity party is over. I'm not getting free dining, I had to downgrade from POFQ to Pop with a RO discount, but we're still going to Disney and I can't complain about that.

Also, congratulations on becoming Foster Parents and bless you for taking that step to help those children. My daughter is a CPS Social Worker in our county and I hear the sad stories every day. Our County has such a hard time getting nice & dependable people to open their homes to these children.

I hope things work out for you.

Thanks! We are really excited to try to change some little lives (while they change ours too) for as long as we have them or longer if we can adopt them. It is a grueling process but we are in the home stretch now and should be licensed Monday or Tuesday then the real fun...I mean roller coaster ride...begins. I can't imagine what Disney will be like with little ones but I am looking forward to experiencing it. I'm sure I will be the whole time. Happy tears of course (and maybe a melt down or two, hehe)!

Hope some of you folks were able to snag a RO discount!

What do you think this says about crowds for that week? A little scared the moderate crowds I was expecting may be MUCH bigger than I was anticipating.

In any case, I'm just so happy we are under four months to go...oh goodness, we are getting so close to double digits...119 days for us.

That's my concern as well.....but have to stay positive. I have a very detailed plan put together for us so hopefully if we can stick to it we should be ok. I am disappointed in these RO discounts Disney put out for our week.... Wilderness Lodge shows lots of availability at rack rate but no luck with the discounts. Just makes me a little sad...it would have been nice to save some $$.

We were hoping for some kind of RO discount at the GF, but no luck. In the end, we're satisfied with a low-ish seasonal rate and a 10% AAA discount.

Well, we haven't had any luck getting a RO or FD. We might change our dates. We are using a TA and she is on vacation so I haven't been able to get much out of her other than she tried to get the RO but we are staying at POR and it would have only been a 5% discount. The discount wasn't worth the additional we would pay for tickets since that price went up. Currently, we have no discount. We are thinking about switching our dates to Dec. 12-22 but I'm on the fence. I don't want to lose all our ADRs, we'd have to upgrade rooms or switch resorts because POR has no availability for regular rooms with FD and if we did that it'd save us $500. Is all this really worth $500?! But now I'm worried about crowds for the first week of Dec. due to all these discounts not including those dates. Hmm, what to do???!!

I managed to book CBR last night at 20% off. There wasn't much available at most of the resorts we were interested in.

There's something really weird with the room only discounts (at least online for the Poly). If I extend my stay by a few days in either direction then it finds availability but if I try for just my stay or even looking at individual days then it finds nothing. The CM on the phone noticed the same thing. I don't see any fine print that room only is only for those staying for a particular number of nights but that seems to be the case with what I am seeing.

Alas...we did not get FD or RO discounts. I knew the FD was not going to happen..but I had still hoped for a RO for some wiggle room in saving up for the trip. BUT..it took well over a year to save up...and my husband cannot switch days off..and the kids have a day and a half off for conferences that week (so they wont miss as much).

But..bright side...Christmas decorations will be in full swing, MVMCP is booked, we got some great ADR's as well and we are at the Beach Club.

Nope. No availability for any deluxe resort on WDW property. I think something isn't right. I know they claim the discount runs those dates, but I think they are blocked out in the system.

I'm curious to see how the crowds are the first week of December as well, seeing as the hotels seem so booked-up. Touring Plans estimates that it has the lowest crowd levels of all of December, but that is of course subject to change. I expect the crowd calendar to be updated as we get closer to December...

No luck for me on RO discount for my dates (12/3 through 12/8) at POFQ. I think there were so many of us that booked ahead of time (or, as in my case, just prior to the ticket hike) in hopes of that week being available that we used up their promo inventory!! Those PINs that were going out lead us astray! Oh well, right?

Well, tried again tonight and Animal Kingdom is now the one deluxe that has room discount availability - BUT- the special offer room 30% discount only applies to standard and pool view rooms. You can not get a 30% on a Savannah room- it will give you what it calls a "discounted" room for Savannah, but when we compared that to rack rate it was only $100 cheaper for the entire week. Hope that might help someone on here, but if we are going to stay at AK and deal with buses to everywhere, we want a Savannah view!

Well, we, ended up changing our dates from Nov. 30 - Dec 10 to Dec 12 - 22. I'm a bit sad we had to switch, especially because we had to switch resorts. We had POR but had to switch to CBR. I'm going to keep trying for POR because that's what I really wanted but I'm excited we got FD. I was able to change all our ADRs and our plane tickets (didn't have to pay change fee thanks to the nice guy at Delta, score!). Its going to make for a very busy Christmas season but on the bright side I will have from Dec. 12th until after Christmas off from work now.

maybe once things die down... people will be making changes and canceling rooms... they will open up for discounts for us!! =) at least that is what i keep telling myself. Either way... Im excited to be going... just wish i could save some $$$... I love a good deal!
