Hi, I've read posts that ask about the weather and crowds in mid to late January, but not about the 1st week in January. Can anyone tell me what the weather and crowds are like during that time of year? We're hoping to go the first week of January in 2006. Thank you in advance for your help. :D

Folks here tell me that after the holiday crowd clears out, usually by the 3rd, the place is as empty as it'll ever get with most rides walk-ons and little or no need for FastPass. I hope they're right.

We went this past January (1st week). Our first day in the parks was the Monday after New Years and it was great! From what I hear, the crowds go away after the weekend following Jan. 1st...........or if Jan. 1st is on a weekend, the crowds will be gone at the end of the weekend. We had very little crowds.....it really was great. The weather was perfet.........kinda warm in the afternoon and a little cool at night. The days were warm enough that we went to a waterpark and it was comfortable. I think that there always is a potential for some really cold weather though. Good luck.

We are going after our cruise 1/2-1/4 or 5. I will try to remember (you can send me an email if you want) to post about how things are at that time. I imagine and hope that since NY is on Saturday and schools may start on Monday that many people will be heading home on Sunday 1/2.

We went over New Year's 2000. 1/1 was a Saturday, and by Monday we had the place to ourselves!

I've never been in January, although everyone says its a great time to go...then again they said that about Oct. and when DH and I went in Oct. it was as busy as over Labor Day weekend. But if I had a choice(I'm due on Jan. 13, so a Jan trip is out of the question this year.) I would be going this Jan, since crowds are supposed to be low and the weather in Jan is the best you can get in Florida. January is tipical Florida's "coldest" month. You can never be sure what the weather will be like. One day it could be in the 70's and the next day it will be in the 50's. So you pretty much have to make sure you pack shorts AND pants.

We went last Jan., first day was 1/4. Crowds were gone, and we really loved that it was so empty. Beware the weather though! I had checked the Weather Channel constantly before we left, it was supposed to be sunny and in the 70s. The first day it was. Then it got cold, 2 days it didn't get above the 40s I think. So pack for both and wear stuff you can layer. HTH :)

It's my favorite time of year to go because it's the least crowded I've seen it. I wouldn't say there are no lines, but the lines are significantly shorter and some attractions at times can be walk-ons. The lines are probably on average 20 minutes or less. You still end up waiting for the popular rides like Space Moutain for probably 30-45 mins, but if you time it right you can get a shorter wait time. The major downside to this time of year is that the parks close earlier and open later so there's less time to spend there. I usually get there around open and ride a ride like Splash Mountain 4 times with no wait to get it out of my system. The weather is so tempermental though so it might be cold or warm or raining or all 3 throughout the day.
