1st Trip to WDW/Florida

Hi everyone....we are making the big trip this Nov. for 19 days, staying off site and hoping to see alot!! This board is a wealth of information so thanks for that!! Our kids are 14, 11 and 9 when we go. The middle child (adopted son) has never had a vacation but the 2 girls have been to Disneyland 5 years ago. We are hoping to make this a great trip.

Just wondering what are some must see things not to miss at WDW and how many full days you would recommend to see it all.

I would recommend one day per park and one day in between to relax. Seeing you are staying for 19 days you wouldn't want to wear yourself out going to a park each day. Don't miss Downtown Disney for some awesome shopping and maybe plan a character meal or 2. Even though your kids are a little older I still think they would love one. My favorites are Chef Mickey for dinner, they Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom for breakfast, lunch or dinner and 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian for breakfast or dinner. Happy planning.

Wow, that's so exciting, especially since you are staying there for 19 days!! As the previous poster suggested, I would hit the parks for a few days, then relax for a day or two. You really don't have to rush at all since you are staying there for so long. Since you are going in November, you will probably be able to see most of the Christmas decorations. I would suggest going to the resorts to check them out (especially the Grand Floridian, which has a huge ginger bread house!!). Definitely make sure you get to go to Downtown Disney and check out the Marketplace. Also make sure you get to see Wishes in the Magic Kingdom, Illuminations in Epcot, and Fantasmic in Hollywood Studios. These shows are all wonderful and very touching. I would also suggest going to the Crystal Palace for breakfast or dinner. The food there is wonderful and Pooh and his friends are there. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and make sure you read a lot - there is a ton of info here on these boards. Have a magical trip!!!

Is your 14 year old in Ontario? If so, I am suspecting that they are in Grade 9 (I'm a teacher) make sure to check that they don't miss their midterms- they are usually in Nov. and it is worth a lot of their mark. You're going to have a great time! Check out mousesavers.com they have great tips to save $$, and plus out dollar is going up right now! I would suggest going for 8 full days with water parks inbetween. You'll have a fabulous time!

Thanks for all the replys...will have to take note of all the shows not to miss and be sure we see them. We were thinking of getting 7 day passes as we have lots else planned....SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Daytona, Universal, Water parks, beach days, Kennedy etc. etc.

We are in AB and my daughter will be in grade 10 so her exams are not scheduled in November...already checked that out with the schools and the other two are in lower grades...was just concerned about exams in high school....

This site is like a crack addiction i cant tear myself away from it and keep reading and reading and reading

It is not required to stay onsite to see resorts. Grand Floridian and Polynesian have great holiday displays. Any restaurant that is in a resort is a great way to experience character interaction and sight seeing without using a day of your park ticket.

Yes, you can visit & eat at any of the resorts, just be sure to make ADR's at the restaurants you want to try. Our first night we rode the monorail around the area to check everything out. I think the Christmas decorations are up in November & some of the resorts are beautifully decorated , I agree with the character meals as previous posters mentioned. I was hesitant & almost cancelled Garden Grill because my kids didn't want a character meal. We had an absolute blast with Pluto, Mickey & especially Chip & Dale, one of the best moments of our trip! My dd18 was laughing so hard, she had tears in her eyes Our trip (last Sept.) was 11 days long. We spent 1 day in AK, 2 days in Epcot, & 3 in MK , 4 in DHS. Hollywood Studios was our favorite park due to Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror & Toy Story Mania. A few evenings we went and strolled the Boardwalk, rode the Friendship boats to Epcot & back, & watched the performers. I highly recommend visiting one of the Gulf coast beaches. Absolutely gorgeous with white sand & warm, calm water. Enjoy your trip!

and congrats on planning your first trip to WDW. Your children are going to love it. What a great vacation 19 days!! You can take your time and see it all. You must make sure you do the Buzz Lightyear ride at MK. You son will love it. My DS (11) can't get enough of it. Also my favorite at MK is Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Don't forget to take a ride on the monorail. You can take it from MK to Epcot. The kids will really enjoy it. Have a great time.

Your first trip - How exciting. Your kids are going to love it. I'm the wrong person to ask about how long to stay. We are up to over 2 weeks stay's now. November is a great time of year - the Christmas decorations are incredible. Make sure to definately check out the Osbourne Family Lights at DHS. You can definately go see the resorts. Just let them know that you want to look around, eat dinner etc. You can even make dining reservations in advance.
