I've enjoyed reading many trip reports, so now that we have just returned from WDW, I figure it's time I returned the favor and posted my trip report. It's my first one, so bear with me! The travelers are myself DW(47), DH(46), DS(11) and my mother and father, ages 65. We stayed at OKW from Dec. 14th thru the 21st. It was our 12th trip to Disney, my parent's 2nd trip(but it was a long time ago), and first time to stay at OKW.
We drove 21 hours from IN; I don't recommend it, but my mother is flying phobic, so we had no choice.
It was also the first time we had visited over the Christmas season, and we were all wowed by the awesome decorations everywhere. For those of you who have been over this time you know what I'm talking about; if you haven't, I highly recommend a trip during this time. The crowds were very light, we never used fastpass once. Rides were either a walk-on or 10 minute wait. It was a bit cold the first two days we were there, but it kept warming up and we did wear shorts our last couple of days and got in the pool a couple of times.
OKW was lovely and yes, it is enormous. The two bedroom was quite roomy and comfortable for the 5 of us and it was nice to have breakfast and some meals in the room during the week.
Each park had it's highlights: In the Magic Kingdom it was the parade and main street with the tree, the lights, and yes the "soap bubble snow." However, we do see plenty of the white stuff here in the midwest. Epcot was the favorite park for all of us; it was magical the way the archway lights greet you as you enter World Showcase, the amazing tree, and all the storytellers in each country. But the candlelight processional was the most awesome. It moved my father to tears.
But the most magical thing of all was watching our son play tour guide with his grandparents. Watching he and his grandfather laugh and giggle as they got drenched on Kali; taking his grandmother by the hand and pointing out all the colorful birds in Animal Kingdom; watching them happily skip down Main Street singing Christmas carols; and hearing all the oohing and ahhing everytime we came upon a new holiday decoration or scene.
Hope I didn't go on too long. For those of you going to the World soon, enjoy the magic! For the rest of us who have to wait a while before our next trip, we'll savor the magical memories until next time.
