1st trip in January... need ideas for surprise!

Okay, we are making our first trip to Universal in January.. and it will be a Christmas present for the kids!! So excited!!

In the past, I will make a box of things that have to do with where we are going, and they have to guess where we are headed... (They are 9 and 10yrs old)

Any ideas on what to put in the universal box? For Disney, I put in trading pins, but there isn't anything like that for US/IoA, is there?

I thought of Harry Potter shirts, but what else?

I also thought there might be some movies that the kids haven't seen, that are referenced at the parks... (like Beetlejuice.?) Maybe I could get them some of those kind of movies...

Help me think of movies that are referenced in the parks other than HP, Shrek and Spiderman...lol!

Yes - there are pins for Universal. There was a thread going about all the movies & cartoons that are in Universal but I am terrible at finding that stuff. I'm sure someone else will assist there.

Yes, Universal has pins.

As for other movies, Jaws, Twister, Blues Brothers, Jurasic Park, Xmen, An American Tail, Men In Black, The Mummy... That's all I can think of right now.

In addition to the usual wrapping paper, movies, toys, when we did our first ever winter WDW trip in 09' and revealed it to the kids we bought them each a nice framed poster from their favorite movie (Pirates of Carribean and Chronicles of Narnia). I look at those posters every night and remember that trip.

I did something similar for my son. I found a crafter on etsy.com that custom makes letters from Hogwarts. She does a great job, using parchment paper and old fashioned lettering. He was thrilled with it.

Dr. Suess is a good one too! ooh...or Shrek! Can you get your hands on brochures or something like that?

We suprised our kids a few years ago with Disney and played the planning cd for them in the truck on the way to the airport! Took them a little bit to get it...they really thought we were leaving them with a sitter and that we were going alone! LOL Too funny...

Regardless it will be so much fun watching them realize where they are going...
