I just happened to stumble on this site and we are leaving on the 3rd for our trip! I have been married for 8 years and never had a honeymoon or vacation ever!! Now that we have been stationed in GA and Disney is giving us a great rate we decided on taking advantage of this offer! This is probably going to be our only trip to Disney and I want to make it wounderful for my entire family. We are staying at POR with our two kiddies (girl6 & boy 7). My daughter just turned 6 last week so I would love to get in on perks for her.I did tell the hotel it was her birthday and I scheduled a character dinner at Chef Mickey for her...is there anything else I should do??? What should I expect from the hotel & Chef Mickey??? If anyone can give me any advice for our trip about the hotal, birthdays or any general info most don't know I would love it :)
Thanks for responding,
Cara

Cara-
first off, I would not "expect" anything from Disney- most of the time they will slip something special in for people, but there are many poeple celebrating special occasions there! Having said that, the best advice I can give you is to tell everyone that you a celebrating her b-day. WHen you check in- remind them you're celebarting dd's b-day. We've asked if it was possible to have a small b-day cake in the room and they have always accomadated that request- along with a few ballons and a b-day card signed by the b-day person's fav. character. You can also arrange to have a beautiful reg. sized b-day cake baked and sent to your room. But, you will have to pay for this. If you're looking for freebies.... WHen you make ps's for the restaraunts, mention you are celebarting your dd's b-day. Sometimes they will bring free desserts to the b-day girl/boy. WHen you go to the MK- stop and pick up a b-day button for her etc. Just going to WDW should be a wonderful b-day gift for dd! Get her her own fanny pack and give her b-day money in Disney Dollars! SHe can spend that money on whatever she wants in the parks- treats, souveniers etc.

First off if you go with the expectation that Disney is not going to do anything you will be fine. Then if they do surprise you it will be magical.

I would make sure to get a birthday button at the parks. CM's will fuss over you when they see the button, you can get a magical moment in the parks, phone call from Goofy.

Also mention it when you make any PS.

The B-day buttons are large, white, and easy for everyone to see. They are available from guest relations in City Hall on Main Street.
