1st timers on ToT--review

Short n sweet: I am a great big chicken; Rock N Roller Coaster is walking the line for me. I have avoided ToT since it opened--I do not like drops or elevator shafts. (I got stuck in an elevator at work once--shudder). But I knew DH would like it so we tried it out on the MGM emh evening last week. I was also shamed into this by reading one DISers report of how her 84-year-old aunt said ToT was her favorite ride. Anyway, we rode it &...I loved it! We rode it three times last week. While I was very nervous every time right before it got dark, I never actually soiled myself. Anyway, if you haven't done it, do try it once. The theming is amazing and the ride is an incredible rush. I give it an A+. :thewave:

I'm with you all the way alliecats. I passed on TOT for several years because of fear. When we (DS now almost 14) finally tried it a couple of years back I was astonished. It is truly the most amazing experience of all time. We rode it 13 times last June and wanted to do more but ran out of time.
My DS is also crazy about R n R, but I do it once or twice a trip just for him. I can easily skip R n R. TOT is far better, IMHO.....................

Alliecats, are your sure you're not my 9 yr old son posting under an assumed name? We're leaving for WDW in less than 4 weeks and he's been trying to talk me into riding T of T. I said I'd think about it, but Mission Space, RnR coaster and T of T strike terror in my heart!!!

I'm feeling guilty over our trip in June. My DD (17) wants to ride TOT and wants me to go with her but this ride involves the 2 things I am most terrified of - heights and fear of elevators! She doesn't want to ride by herself so I'm feeling kind of guilty about chickening out!

Corina, I promise. I am not your 9 year old son. I am a 31-year-old woman, I mean, girl.
Twirly 41, the car is pretty roomy--I never felt confined (I forgot to mention I am claustrophobic. To the point where if someone is buried under stuff in a movie, or caved in, I get up and run around the room in a freakout!). The only times you feel heights are when the doors open and you can see out. As long as you don't sit in the front row, you can't really tell how far up you are--at least, I could not. And the first time I rode, my eyes were closed. I opened them once I got my nerve up on the next rides.
The best parts are when you go up, then down again immediately. You know how when you drive down a big hill you sometimes leave your stomach up at the top, but it is an exhilirated feeling? It's like that. I LOVED it, and I was too afraid to ride it in late 94, 98, and last year. All that time wasted.
RnRC is fun too. Even though it is intense, it is less so than an outdoor coaster because you can't see any of the scary turns, and so can't dread them. And I won't ride ANYTHING at 6 Flags with a height requirement .

My wife and I love the ToT. She embraced it with many of the same concerns/fears you expressed, and came out wanting to ride again. It is or favorite ride at DW and we always, no matter how short our trip, make time to ride it at least twice. Be proud, many people I know will never experience the pure thrill that is ToT because of their fear. Have fun.

I loved Tot! WE RODE IT AT LEAST 5 TIMES! What a rush!

Now Rockin Roller Coaster is a different animal all together! I love coasters normally and going upside down is not a problem but the accelerated take off took my breath away and really freaked me out! I will try it one more time but if I feel the same way again I will sit in the gift shop in the future!

Now see what happens when you try new things? ! LOL I love it too, and was scared the first time I rode it, but glad I did! Can't wait to ride it again! Glad you enjoyed it!!

I have the opposite problem as some of you posters. I'm the only one who wants to ride ToT and RRC in my family--my DH, and 3 sons DS14, DS9, and DS6 all say no way! (They definitely take after their Dad!) I'm working on my best bet, DS9, to ride with me, as it's no fun to ride alone! What's a mother to do?
