We are planning our first trip to WDW in March '08.. at time of travel we will have two adults, a 17yr old, 14 yr old, a 13 yr old and 12 yr old.. I have read the board and am thinking that POP resort will be really fun ( and affordable).. and trying to decide on what bldg to ask for 2 rooms in.. I am thinking of the 60's bldg.. any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you , Mel :)

First off Mel, Welcome to the boards!!!

I would suggest the 70's building where the big wheel is. We stayed there a couple of years ago and loved the POP. The 70's building is close to the lobby/food court/bus stop without having to pay the extra money for preferred.

Well Mel, you will find that answers here will range from the 50s to the 90s! Everyone has their own favorite building. Your kids wre all born in between 1990 and 1995.

Ask them what they remember from their childhood. Do they know what an eight-track tape looks like? No? Then maybe the 70s isn't the best for you. Do they remember Pacman and whaka-whaka-whaka? The 80s could be nice. The 90s is the smallest section and could suit your children nicely. FOR THEM.

This is my opinion only but I feel that part of the charm of Pop Century is experiencing all the different events and pop culture from 1950-1999. If you want a building that only your children can relate to, I would suggest either the 80s or the 90s. I wouldn't really think about the 50s or the 60s and maybe the 70s.

But the joy of Pop Century is going through the decades together. Take the take to walk around the entire resort and see all of the icons, not just the ones at your buildings. Walk along the lake and see all the signs for every year from 1950-1999. Talk about those events. For example, the first Wal Mart opened during my birth year of 1962 and I am kind of ashamed to know that now!

Really, really take the time to look at the shadowboxes in the lobby. If that doesn't bring back memories, nothing wll. It's really a great time sharing all that with anyone. My husband and I find something new each time that we had, our mothers had, our friends had, our grandmothers had, whatever.

My personal opinion? I really don't care what building I get. It's just the whole experience of the resort and the memories it can bring back.

We were at Pop this past February. Although I didn't specify a particular decade, at check in I was asked which section I wanted. My preference was just somewhere close to the food court/buses. We ended up in the 70's section, second floor. Right out our door was the foose ball table or whatever its called which is really close to the big wheel. We were a short walk to the pool/food court/buses. By the end of the week we had found a short cut to the bus lines also. It really was an easy walk after every long day. I was glad we weren't any closer to the pool really. Our son who was 8 then would have wanted to swim more and most of our swimming was done at night when it was quite a bit chillier so I was glad we didn't have to have it out our door every day to tempt him. :) Good luck making a decision or taking your chance like we did.
