1st time going to disney. I just have a couple more questions.sorry:confused3
Should I use half a day to go downtown???
I have 3 kids 17, 11 , & 11. Would they enjoy this or should I stick with the parks?? Have you ate at Capt Jacks???

Staying at ASMu is better to try and bring enough clothes or wash at the resort??? (We are staying for 10 days)

Which water park do you like better??

Thanks for all y'alls help :jumping1:

O and how soon should I pack??

lol!!! Can you tell I'm ready to go now!

you should already be packed, I keep a bag packed in case I win the lottery and have to leave right away.

Downtown Disney is full of shopping, if they like shopping... go all in.

I suggest taking 10 days of cloths, and doing maybe a small load mid vacation... but do you really wanna do laundry on vacation?

When are you leaving? I try to pack the day before, since my kids have problems with me packing the clothes they are still wearing! LOL

We went to DTD a few times and my kids liked it. There is good shopping there, and good restaurants. We went to Cap'n Jacks and we didn't like it much. The Earl of Sandwich is good, and I heard they fixed Wolfgang Pucks Express so the food is better now. There is also one of those water spout play areas there too which was fun for all of us, although we got wet!

It also depends on how long you will be staying. If you'll be there a week or more, I say go for it! Have fun! :)

Since you're going to be there for 10 days, I would say it's definitely worth spending 1/2 a day there. There's plenty of shopping - all kinds of different stores (christmas store, cooking store, lego store, etc.) & some of the merchandise isn't available in the parks. There's also Disney Quest which has alot of games, which your kids might find fun.

There's plenty of places to eat. We haven't eaten at Cap'n Jacks so I can't help you there. I would suggest asking for opinions about it on the Restaurants forum on this board.

Personally, I wouldn't want to wash clothes while on vacation, but I know some people do that.

Sorry, I'm of no help to you for the waterparks either. This would be a good question for the Theme Parks, Attractions & Strategies forum.

Packing is a personal preference issue as well. Our trip starts on Aug 30 & I started packing 2-3 weeks ago - with things like rain ponchos, mini-fans, travel-sized toiletries, etc.

Hope some of this has been helpful for you...and by the way welcome to the DIS!

oh, I forgot... wave pool at typhoon lagoon would be my personal favorite... the slides at blizzard beach are better for teen agers though

With a 10 day trip you have plenty of time to do a half day DTD run. I make DTD a late afternoon/early evening trip after a day at the pool on a rest day where we do not go to any parks. There are a few good restaurants and some great shopping.

I would bring a good amount of clothing and plan to wash only a small amount. just pack smart. I usually start packing 5-7 days prior just to make sure that I have everything and plan out what to take.

To me Blizzard Beach is the best water park. Better lay out and less congestion. Great slides. Typhoon Lagoon is fun and has a great wave pool but Blizzard Beach has a better theme. TL has a confusing lay out. In either case, finding a chair or chairs to sit in or make a base is nearly impossible if you go late. Go early if possible. Don't let that keep you from going though, no matter what time it is, as both of these parks are great fun.

I usually start packing two days before, but save most of it for the day before we leave.

As for water parks, I haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon in years, but my family really enjoys Blizzard Beach! There are lots of slides that your kids would probably enjoy.

A trip to DTD would be a great downtime activity one afternoon/evening during your trip. Count me as at least one person who likes Cap'n Jacks! My boyfriend and I had a very enjoyable lunch there one afternoon during our trip last year. I don't remember what he ate, but I had the pasta alfredo and it was great! I'd definitely eat there again.

Should I use half a day to go downtown???

I would go to DTD if I have the time. If you at least have 5 days, then yes. There is a lot to see. Stores, restaurants, Cirque du soleil and disneyquest (if you can afford the extra expense).

I have 3 kids 17, 11 , & 11. Would they enjoy this or should I stick with the parks?? Have you ate at Capt Jacks???

The older child might like the shopping, or disneyquest interactive theme park (which is mostly an arcade for an extra cost), but the younger ones would probably get bored.

I've never eaten at Capt. Jacks, but I think there are much better choices out there like wolfgang pucks.

Staying at ASMu is better to try and bring enough clothes or wash at the resort??? (We are staying for 10 days)

I would rather bring lots of clothes. I don't like doing laundry on vacation!

Which water park do you like better??

I would pick typhoon lagoon over blizzard beach.

Your welcome!

Thank you all for the advice. I am glad I found this site. But I sure hope I go to bed early and not stay on the computor so late like last night (3:45am)
:surfweb:

Thanks again!!!

Oh your kids will love Disney Quest!!! It is a lot of fun there!!!

I have no advice at all, I'll be a first time visitor to WDW myself this year (with any luck). I just had to chime in on that one with a big AMEN. A friend who lives in SC linked me to this site, and it has been wonderful but I've spent an awful lot of time around here lately, shirking my laundry and staying up too late at night. :rolleyes1
