Hi everyone! My family is making our first trek to Orlando in one short month. With little time to plan and research and an over abundance of information to be found, I'm coming here in hopes that I can get some advice on accommodations. This will be a party of 6 traveling(my mom and dad, plus my 3 children) We will be in the area for 6 days, the spending the first 3 on Melbourne Beach, then finishing up in Orlando for the theme park adventure. We're booked at the Doubletree Suites in Melbourne and the new Residence Inn that should be open sometime this month at the Orlando Airport.

Upon some research, I've discovered that staying at an airport location is not convenient at all to the parks. We initially wanted something big enough for everyone(opting for the 2 bed 2 bth suite at RI) but now I'm thinking 2 seperate rooms, closer to the parks and attractions would be a more reasonable option. Something with a minifridge and microwave, a decent pool or playground area for the kids and close to shopping and restaurants. We thought about a vacation rental, but we've shyed away from that idea. Maybe the 2nd time around we won't be as reluctant to give it a try. So I'm coming here to see where you guys would recommend based on the above preferences. Thanks!

Are you only planning on visiting the Disney parks? What else in the Orlando area are you planning to see?

If you are only planning to do Disney, a hotel near the airport will definitely be out of your way.

we always stay at the quality in, it's near everything, disney, universal, plus it's got quality.

lol.

pretty nice places to eat near there as well

and the hotel has a good pool

Try the AAA site. or Trip Advisor for what you think meets your needs.
Not sure if you are looking for 1 room or a suite near Disney.
There are so many places- if you belong to AAA, pick up a Florida travel book from them and look at hotels in Lake Buena Vista or Kissimmee.
Good luck!

Which parks is a big question for location: WDW, SW, or U/IoA?? There are Residence Inns, and other suite hotel options close to any of them that should suit your needs. FWIW.
