Hi there guys....thanks again for helping me wade through all of this new information since becoming a member! I have a question that I am not sure about (called MS but am having trouble "getting" it, so I knew where to go to ask!). My family and I are trying to book a 2bdr at SSR for Dec. 30- Jan. 6 (currently have a 1 bdrm booked). It is available EVERY night except for New Year's eve. 1 person at MS said to waitlist the WHOLE block of nights (which I did) and 1 person said to waitlist just the 1 night and book the rest now.....can you tell me which way is best to go and the ramifications of that? Am I right in thinking that if I waitlist the WHOLE thing, I have to wait for someone to cancel their trip of exactly the same nights? On the other hand, if I waitlist just the ONE night and it doesn't come through, we may have to move a few times?

Thanks!

I am not an expert by any means so hopefully someone else will chime in here. If it was me I would personally book all but the one night for the 2 bedroom. I would make a cash reservation for NYE as a backup and waitlist to use points. If the waitlist does not come through you could rent out the points to help cover the cost. The other option is to reserve the 1 bedroom for that night while waitlisting and take the chance you have to move. It is definitely a risk but one I would be willing to take given the difference in the accomodations. Good luck in deciding!

Okay, so I can possibly make a cash reservation for the one night, but what happens then? Do I end up having to check in to one room on 12-30, then another for the cash reservation on 12-31, and then again on 1-1? I am trying to avoid too many moves and have 1 continuous reservation, if possible. Do they do that with a cash reservation for just one night?

Thanks, by the way, for your idea!

If you make the cash reservation through MS you should be able to stay in the same room. Ask MS to link the reservations together. We had a cash and point ressie in May and we stayed in the same room.

So it's possible that even though the room is sold out on 'points' it is available via cash ?

Thank you, thank you! I called back and yes, they were able to do that.....I just booked that one night on cash, they linked them all, and waitlisted me for the 1 night I needed only. YAY! I am so grateful to not have to move a bunch of times :cool1:

MS explained that once points are sold out for a certain night, then, yes, they can book the same rooms on cash and if it becomes available via waitlist, then you say you want to change from cash to points, so yes, apparently you can get a "sold out" room on cash.

THANKS AGAIN!
