We are taking our first trip to DL in March and we'll be there when it's my daughter's 5th birthday. I'm trying to find ways to celebrate and make it really special for her. Does anyone have some advice they could share with us? I have no idea what to expect from our visit and really don't know where to even start looking for ideas. Activities, meals, special treats... anything would be helpful! Thanks!

I would for sure do a character meal. It's expensive, but if you can swing it, totally worth it. We've done Ariel's Grotto as well as Goofy's Kitchen. Both were great, I guess I'd probably pick Goofy's above Ariel's unless your daughter is very princess focused.

They have a birthday button if you go to City Hall (she could get a first timer one too, I think) and then the CMs will make a bit of a fuss, I've heard.

I'm sure there will be other suggestions, but those are two things I could think of!

As the DLR asks our Guests What Will You Celebrate?, there are now than ever before more things available to allow you to celebrate both their Birthdays at and First Visits to The Happiest Place on Earth :).

Check out this site for more info:

We are going to be there for my son's 5th birthday on the 13th. At the plaza inn they have a birthday party you can make reservations for. They have cake decorating, and Mickey and Minnie are supposed to come out and sing Happy Birthday among other things.

The Birthday Party at the Plaza Inn is FUN!!! I would totally make a reservation for that event!:cool1:

Thanks for starting this thread. We'll be taking our DD for her 6th bday and it will also be her first time at the park. It will also be the first time back for my DW and I in a long long time. Good to get some ideas on how to make it extra special.

Not sure where you are staying, but we stayed at PP when we celebrated 5 year olds bday last year. They had a package at the front desk for him with stickers and coloring stuff, and a bday button with his name and they gave him a bunch of balloons when we checked in. After that the magic went on and on. All the CM's made a fuss and said Happy Bday. He got to ride Splash Mountain twice in a row, and also Thunder Mountain. Each place we ate at brought him a special bday desert. At StoryTeller's character breakfast, they all came over and sang happy bday to him. When we went on Winnie the Pooh ride, the CM did not notice his button, so son sort of cleared his throat and pointed to his button. The CM quickly said Happy Bday and then when we got off of the ride, he had a personalized bday card for my son from Winnie the Pooh. I'm sure I am not remembering everything, but it was really fun.

I think the special cakes that you can order are really beautiful and I would do that in a heartbeat next time. Also, for a smaller cake, the bday buckets look cute too. I know my 5 year old would have liked it.

Have a great celebration.

Oh, almost forgot, if you go to City Hall, they will tell you that there is a special call for the bday person, and when you pick up the phone, someone special wishes you a happy bday. (I did not do this, but just read about it)

I called the other day to get reservations for our character breakfast and I asked about special birthday things that we can reserve. They didn't mention anything about the buckets. Does anyone know if they are they still available? I can't find anything about it on the disney website anymore either. Just the princess jewelry box...
