We will be visiting Disney World 12/8-12/12. This is the first time that we will be there during the holiday season.

We are planning to attend a Christmas party during our visit. 12/9 or 12/11? Not sure which is a better date. I am hoping to get some tips about what not to miss and what may not be the best use of our time at the party.

I have also heard that the resorts are decorated. Which ones should we not miss?

Also if there are any other tips or information that would be useful while visiting this time of year would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

As far as resorts....pretty much all the deluxe's.

I would probably go 12/11 I hear friday's can be bad. I went on a Thursday last year.

From past experience just take an extra dose of patience and enjoy. THe crouds are impressive but with the right attitude the people can add to the experience. Have a great trip!!

This is what we are doing. We have never been around Christmas either. We are staying at Universal this year and coming over to WDW for MVMCP on Dec 18th. we plan on visiting the wilderness Lodge, the Polynesian and the grand Floridian during the day and then being at the gate at 4 o'clock for the Christmas party

We are going your exact same dates! :yay:

I think the party may be slightly less crowded on Sunday.

We have never been around Christmas, but we have breakfast one day at the Wilderness Lodge and can't wait to see the tree!

Edit: This link was helpful. Of course hotel decorations might change this year, this was a good guide.

Coming during thanksgiving, just wondering why there are no Christmas parties that week.

The gingerbread displays at the Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn are also worth a visit if you have time. We spend Christmas eve (Narcoosee's) and Christmas Day (Grand Floridian Cafe) at Grand Floridian, the christmas decorations, tree and gingerbread house just make it a magical place to visit.

The giant gingerbread house at GF is amazing, and you can buy a piece to taste! Beach Club has a chocolate carousel, and both Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodge are beautiful. Also the castle with icicle lights is magical, and they add a Christmas part to the end of the projection show which we love.

WDW is wonderful at Christmas--looking forward to the resort decorations and of course the extra sparkles on the castle! Be aware--you may get the STRONG urge to visit again during that time of year once you have experienced it (which totally happened to me). Enjoy the magic!

We went in December 2013 and did the Christmas party. It was our favorite time at Disney. We loved it!

We visited Santa during the party which took a lot longer than I anticipated. It was a nice meet and greet but I wouldn't do it next time. It cut too much into the party and really we could meet Santa somewhere else.

The parade, fireworks, and the show in Tomorrowland were great! Have fun.

Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Beach Club and Boardwalk all have "life sized" gingerbread houses with different themes. Do not miss those! Also, Epcot has storytellers around the world and special food kiosks. Finally, new this year Disney Springs has a drone Christmas light show. I saw a video of it yesterday and it looks pretty neat.

Wow I hadn't heard about the show at Disney Springs..Thanks!

Thank you so much everyone! Now I just have to work all of this into a short 5 day trip!!
