1st Time Staying at WL....Any Suggestions?

8th time at WDW, 1 st time at WL. Have 7yr old daughter, 13 yr old son and wife. Courtyard view room. Any suggestions where in resort to request to stay, room wise? Going down 10/28-11/05 for daughters B-Day and Halloween.

I'd just make sure they put you in the "main" or "inner" courtyard. A true courtyard view at WL should allow you to see the feature pool, the little creek, the geyser, and possibly Bay Lake and the Water Pageant at night. However, WL has apparently added some rooms with views of the Villas as "courtyard" view rooms. How that could be called a courtyard view room is beyond me, but just wanted to make sure you were aware of it.

That's interesting. When we checked in at WL, we were told we had been upgraded from woods view to courtyard, but our balcony faced the villas, so I thought the CM must have been wrong when she told us we were upgraded.

check out the bear face. Also they rent bikes there and that was fun. The pool is nice but i like it to there early because it gets SOOO CROWDED. Roaring forks is ok. They give a tour during the week about the lodge and that was fun to. I have heard different things but last time I was there they were still doing the flag family. There are some great trip reports on the WL on the trip board. Also on the WL FAQ thread there are some great people with tips and stuff.

I've had that same view before in roughly the same area as you, and that definitely used to be considered "woods" view. I think that is precisely the area of rooms that has had their room category changed to "courtyard", though no courtyard is visible from them.

we just returned yesterday and had a courtyard bunk room, I asked for an upper level room inner courtyard. When we got there she had a 2nd floor room near the lobby-the request I had in when we were going to stay at AKL- not what I had requested for WL. I just asked her for a higher room furthur from the lobby. We had room 5121 and were on the same side as check in and opposite of WCC. The rooms view on the same side as the WCC could be blocked by some trees, we loved our room, elevators were great anywhere in the hotel though. Here is a link to pictures from our room

If you ask for inner courtyard, end of southside, higher floors you will get an awesome view of the pool, be able to see Wishes each night over the other side of the building and see the Electric Boat Parade each night! We were in 6157-bunkbed room. It was amazing!
Quick tip- the ferry boats blow their horn with each coming and going-early and late. We bring a white noise maker and listen to the sounds of crashing waves, sleeping like babies!
