Hi all! I finally bit the bullet, and after stalking the room type that I wanted on Disneys site for months, I decided to go ahead & rent DVC points for the first time bc I wanted a Poly Villa Lake View room. So Im very much hoping to not have a 1st floor room, i know its luck of the draw. I called dvc rental store, and I requested a third floor room (they told me to email my request & they would forward it to the owner). So heres my thing, Im just supposed to trust the owner put in the request for me? Is this reliable and consistent? Im way too neurotic for this loss of confirmation. I want to know for sure they put in the request! How do I do that?

Once you get your reservation number from the owner you can link it in your MDE and submit the rom request on your own.

I always submit via https://touringplans.com/, which is NOT free. But man they are good at getting the requests. It should be noted you can request the exact same thing yourself for free if you know how.

Im not sure where I read it, it was on these boards somewhere, but I thought i read this is not an effective way to make a request? I really have no experience to go by, just what Ive been reading on these boards.

Oops im sorry, I didnt see your whole response about touring plans. I can still use touring plans if im just renting points? Or the free method youre mentioning?

The best way is to do as the broker suggested as it goes directly to Ms which will note on the reservation.

I have read over the years that other methods for DVC reservations are not necessarily used or even read,

One of the elements of a rental is that you have an agreement with an owner, not Disney, so have to rely on them.

OP cannot contact DVC Member Services themselves to make a room request because they are not the owner. So I’m not sure what knowledge exists which would let OP make the request themselves for free. (Assuming the options available at on-line check in are not specific enough.)

Im not sure why Im finding this so confusing, but can I call the regular Disney customer service line with my reservation # and see if a room request was made on the reservation?
And if I wanted to use Touring plans fax service for a request, how could I submit it if Im not the member? Excuse my inexperience with this!

I never mentioned MS at all. Once you link your reservation to MDE you can 100% put in your room request there. You are also free to contact the front desk yourself or via fax to place your request. You cant speak to DVC MS about the reservation though.'

1. You cannot call MS. This would be the option for your owner.

2. You CAN fax in your request. This is what Touring Plans takes advantage of. You use the reservation number(so does TP) tp do this.

3. You can use MDE, the Disney World web page, under check-in. You have to link your reservation number to your MDE.

4. You can call the front desk(I think). Never tried this.

Oh! And is there any benefit to me checking in early? On my app it says start check-in now? When do people normally do this?

How do I contact the front desk? Where would I find the front desk # & fax # for Poly Villas? Do they accept fax requests?

The regular Disney line can’t help with a DVC reservation. They will refer you to MS which you can’t talk to because you are not an owner.

Calling a resort directly gets you a call center. They don’t deal with requests normally.

We have been told that many of the resorts do not look at or read faxes for DVC reservations since owners can put them in via MS. Never tried so not sure if it’s true or not.

The reservation you have belongs to the owner until check in so best to go that route. Can you verify? Nope. Drawback of a rental as you can’t call to verify anywhere

I check in early and it’s made no difference in requests. I get them less than half the time but most of mine are generic

3rd floor for LV at Poly is really popular one so be aware of that as not everyone will be able to get it. I just put that exact request in for a June trip.

Saved me from typing all this.

PP mentioned doing a room request in MDE. I am not aware of a way to do this (other than choosing from the limited options in the pull-down menu at online check-in, and sometimes those options don't even apply to the resort in which you will be staying). If there is a way to put in a request of a particular floor, particular view when it is not a category, etc., I would love to know about it.

Only thing in MDE is online check in. And that is the generic requests.

It’s also been noted that if you do that then any other requests are ignored..via MS, fax, etc.

That’s what I thought, thanks.
