1st time not staying at WL/VWL!!!

Tell me we'll be fine! Actually, compared to most of you, we're novices having only been to WDW 3x in the past 3 years. The first 2 times, we stayed at WL and loved it...last year, we stayed in a studio at VWL and loved it. This year, with no general public codes available in May, we decided to rent a studio again (it's just DH, DS9 and myself.) No availability at our top 2 choices: VWL and BCV.
Part of this big surprise trip (DS still thinks we're going in Oct.) is that, since DS is a HUGE Star Wars fan, we're going to try to see the new SW movie on opening night at Downtown Disney---at SSR, we'll be able to WALK there! Also, excited about Star Wars Weekend---never done it before!
Sooo, we'll spend 5 nts. at SSR, then our last 2 nts. at POR-Riverside (Mansions). I'm excited, but a bit nervous since...well, since it's not WL!

Okay take a deep breath and repeat after me: everything will be just fine. I've never stayed at SSR, but I have stayed at POR and it is my favorite resort. I think that haveing new resort experiences will make your vacation much more exciting. And who knows, maybe you'll come away with a new resort favorite!

I have been staying at the WL for the past 10 years and no where else.........I just love the place, especially since I live in FL but grew up in Wisconsin, well I am going to try the POFQ for my stay in May, so I too am a little apprehensive, but......the past 3 visits to the WL in 2004 were less than magical to me, just a few glitches so thought I would try out some different resorts this year. I think it is more of a management problem there than anything else and also that the hotel is usually always packed. I think we both will be fine.

We just stayed at SSR in December and really liked it. It is not VWL/WL and is very different. VWL/WL is our favorite place to stay, we own DVC at VWL, and we were very nervous about staying at SSR. We also stayed at BCV that trip and didn't care for it much. SSR was very nice and it grew on us while we were there. The kids loved the pool and the community hall. The atmosphere was relaxing and although things are a bit of a walk, it was not that far and it was a nice walk. DTD being so close is also nice. We have decided that our hearts will always be at VWL but we liked SSR too.

We will definitely be staying there again, but VWL is still the best for us!!
