1st Time DCL Cruise - Paying with Gift Cards

Does anyone have any knowledge on paying for a Disney Cruise with Gift Cards? We are attempting to book a 2023 Cruise via DCL; but the deposit due is greater than $1000. When trying to use a GC, we an error code, "Your balance is $1000.00. To use this card, the balance must be equal to or greater than the amount you are paying today. Please select another payment method." Given that Gift Cards cannot have balances above $1000; and there does not appear to be a way to pay with multiple gift cards (or even gift card + cc); I'm stumped on how to process the transaction.

Call and pay over the phone. You can book a cruise initially without paying (this is called a "hold"), then pay the deposit over the phone. When you call, choose option 3 for "book a new cruise" even if you've already booked the cruise, to get a short wait time. The CM answering the phone won't care why you're calling.

I’ve had the same problem before. If I remember correctly, the online deposit has to be paid with one payment source/transaction. Mine was also more than one gift card, so I had to use a CC. You might be able to work around by calling in to book your cruise, but I didn’t try that due to wait times. I couldn’t figure out any way around it online.

To pay for the rest of your balance, you should be able to use gift cards and multiple transactions, but not the deposit. However, if it works the same as WDW, be sure to use them before the payment deadline or you end up with the same problem!

Also, be sure to save any gift cards you use. In the event that you would have to cancel your cruise, any refunds go back to the original form if payment. There are ways around if you happen to toss the gift card, but just adds a layer of complexity.

which also means, when you combine to one gift card up to $1000, don’t keep using the same one. Combine up to $1000, use it and save it.. then combine $1000 on a different gift card, etc.

Yep, I've only had short waits lately, using the option 3 method I described above.
