Hi, this is my family's first cruise ever. I'm really excited but nervous as well. We will be driving to Florida from NH. We usually go to WDW twice a year. Our party includes myself, my husband, 2 kids (9 & 11) my sister, her husband & 15 year old son and our disabled friend, Steve, who has Muscular Dystrophy and is on a ventilator. My sister is his main caretaker and I will be relieving her at various points during the day. We are in rms. #6154, #6152 & #6150. Does anyone know anything about these rooms? Also, in the morning, I have to have coffee first thing with real cream and sugar. I also am in charge of getting everyone else's coffee. Will room service provide this or do I have to go up to Deck #9? Also, since everyone takes sugar & cream, can I request cream in a small pitcher or do they use individual creamers? After reading a lot of the threads, I feel pretty confident that someone can answer my questions. Thank you.

Hi, Susan. Sounds like you've been lurking for a while. Glad you finally registered and posted. Welcome to the active side of the boards!

You'll be taking I-95 most of the way. I have directions to the port from I-95 at my web site...

6154 is very large and has a very large verandah. The verandah on all three of these rooms is steel, so you won't be able to see the ocean except when you stand up. I'm assuming Steve will be staying in 6154. I'm not sure how, exactly, this room is configured, but you might want to bring some extension cords for the ventilator. In the standard rooms, there is no plug by the bed. I have more info about the outlets in standard rooms at my web site...

Yes, you can order this from Room Service. In fact, you might want to order it before you retire as they bring it in thermal carafes that keep the coffee hot overnight.

I'm not sure about the answer to this question. Perhaps you'd like to pick up some cartons of cream at a nearby grocery store before you board?

I am a Dunkin' Dounuts coffee only guy. I even grind the beans daily. The coffee on Deck 9 by the buffet I found to be Very good. Our first cruise Feb 2000 there were "juice stations" all over deck 9. On Dec 1 of 2002 it was only in the buffet with cream and sugar packets. Keep in mind that is the sailing when the Magic was grounded. I have done 2 Disney cruises and have never done room service, I enjoy taking a walk on the deck and checking out the new ports.

Note: Tongue firmly in cheek for the following response:

I'm sure Susan doesn't know anything about Dunkin Donuts coffee. They don't have Dunkin Donuts in New Hampshire, so that's not part of the culture there.

Hi Dave, actually New Hampshire has tons of Dunkin Donuts. I love their coffee but my absolute favorite is Green Mountain Coffee. I usually pack my coffeemaker when we travel to WDW so I can have the coffee I want but I didn't think it would be appropriate to bring it on the ship. Would it be okay for me to do that?

My tongue was in cheek for my Dunkin Donuts comments, Susan (I just edited that post to make that clearer). I'm actually a Starbucks guy, but I enjoy DD coffee when I'm in Boston or New Hampshire. "When in Rome...".

Since you enjoy good coffee (as do I... I believe life is too short to drink bad coffee or bad beer), you may prefer to bring a small coffee maker and your own beans. If you're a coffee snob, you'll find the standard coffee on board to be disappointing.

Note that making this suggestion carries a risk. A couple months ago someone from Seattle asked a similar question. When she made the decision to bring her own, she got a lot of heated criticism from this board. We went through a bad stretch of bad manners on this board that I think has tempered lately. Hopefully nobody will be so rude as to criticize this suggestion now.

We drink ours black but when we ordered the night before(and it really is piping hot in the am!) they brought cream....or maybe it wasn't "cream". Anyway, I guess I think it was half and half. Hummm.....little tiny cartons of some creaming substance. Tons of them! If anyone used that much creamer, there wouldn't be room for the coffee. If you want true cream, you could take a little carton and keep it in the ice bucket. Maybe someone else knows for sure what was in those teeny tiny little buckets.;) Oh, and the room service coffee was better than that on deck 9. Maybe I just hit deck 9 before they put the fresh out....the room service stuff tasted better at 6 am. But, I'm sure it probably all from the same place.

Never had a bad cup from the buffet, two years prior out of the "juice stands" I can't say the same.
Did somebody say something about a bad beer?? Try the tap stuff in Freeport.
