We'll be staying at the Poly the end of this month, and since this was a surprise from DH, I've never really read much about it because it's just never been an option for us to stay deluxe. I've skimmed Tikiman's website, but honestly I'm overwhelmed. Is there a resort thread on the DIS just about the Poly? Got a few questions, should I request a building and if so, when? We are booked gardenview. My kids would love to see the monorail going from the room, but is it noisy? Thanks in advance! :earsboy:

We've stayed there the last two years and we're going again in June. You'll love it.

Both times we've stayed in Fiji building, Marina side. It was great.

I'd look at Tikimans pros and cons on each building, look at the map he has and just pick one to ask for. I really feel you'll have a great time anywhere at the resort.

There are several people on this board that have stayed there a lot more than I have. They can give you great advice. Just post your questions and you'll get answers.

The first year we were there we stayed in Aeotorea on the monorail side. My daughter had so much fun watching the monorail go by. She kept track of all the colors of monorails she saw all week. You can't even hear the monorail unless you open up the balcony doors. I also liked it because it was easy to run into the Grand Ceremonial House to get drink refills. The only down side was it was a little farther to walk to the monorail to go to Epcot. We requested Fiji both times we stayed there and never got our building request but we were always pleased with the building we stayed at. We also liked Tokelau.

Last Oct. we had a gv room in Aotearoa on the monorail side, my friend, who had never stayed onsight before, absolutely loved being able to see the monorail go by. In fact we requested the same building and view for this Oct. With the sliding door closed, we couldn't even hear the monorail.

Rarotonga would be a good longhouse to request as well. I stayed there 2 times (monorail side) when I was a teen with my parents and loved the close proximity to GCH (it is virtually connected... just a short walk between the 2) and the arcade. On the other side of the building is the quiet pool and it's also close to the bus stop. The only downside (for our family) is that the 2nd floor does not have balconies and I really-really want one. We have a little) will be 16 months when we go again and it would be nice to be able to sit out there (or on a patio) while she naps inside.

Anyway, hope this helps! We'll be there in a little more than a month and it will be dh and dd's first time. I feel like I'm *finally* "going home". :-)

Have a great trip!

Hi Jen - looks like there will be a few dis'ers at the poly the last week of april, princess wannabee will be there too. I have requested samoa again, hopefully ground floor volcano pool view. You can add a request to your exisiting reservation and you can also fax your request 3 days ahead of time. We have stayed in aeorotora once with the monorail view, I didnt request that, it was all that was available. The view of the monorail is great, the rooms are big and sunny., I did hear a swish sound from the monorail. I think the one drawback of that location mainly is the luau traffic and noise if you are in your room then and its a slight more walk to the pool. If I cant get samoa, I am thinking of rarotonga too for our 2nd choice. See you at the poly.
