1st time at DLH

Am so excited about our 1st trip staying in the DLH in May. Even more excited that our daughters have no clue that they're going as they think we're going camping to France with our friends. Can't wait for their reaction.

Anyway, any advice about which rooms are best to avoid and which would be worth asking for?

When we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel I simply asked for a room overlooking the gardens at the front of the hotel and not the train station. We were given a lovely room in one of the turrets with a balcony overlooking the garden area as you approach the entrance to the park. At night we could see the Disney Village and the TOT light up. It was a wonderful room. I would highly recommend this room.

How exciting that your kids dont know! that will b some surprise!

I have been thinking about this recently as well. We have booked a standard room and was wondering if it would be worth while asking for a room with a view. Although I had no idea what view to ask for as I didn't know what the hotel overlooked on all sides. Iykwim!

Is one side over the gardens and parks and the other side over the train station?

We have been lucky to stay there twice, going again in June.

The first time we had a ground floor room on the west wing, it was great as it was sunny all week and we had a little outdoor patio with table and chairs.
We requested the same location last year and had a different room, it was nice but in the shade all week, and have actually for this year (touch wood) asked for the same room as on our first visit.

I think possibly some rooms could have better views, however if the weather is pleasant a ground floor one with patio is a nice bonus.

Even though it was quite a walk from reception and the restaurant, it's such a nice hotel it's a pleasant walk, and there is another exit/entrance on the wing that is literally a minute from the front gate.

I couldn't advise on rooms to avoid, but if you are interested in a west wing ground floor room, pm me and I can tell you which one's are in the best location.

The ground floor rooms with small patio are lovely

The main bonus for being on that side of the hotel, near the swimming pool area, is that you can enter and exit the hotel through a door which is immediately beside the turnstiles at the exit of the park. So when you are all exhausted, you literally just walk through the turnstiles and the door to the hotel is on the right. Magic

Do any of the standard rooms have views of the parks?

No, as I e mailed DLH to ask for a room with a park view and was told the standard rooms do not have a park view but that I could upgrade if I wanted.

Sorry I can't advise as we've never stayed in the DLH but I share your excitement especially as your children don't know! I hope whichever you room you get it will be a magical experience.

We had a 'train station' side view. But were looking back toward the Magic Kingdom so didn't really see the station.

We could hear the Main Street music. See the train coming round and see lots of Discoveryland so we loved our room.
