We have a 7 year old and a 5 year old, just wondering what we shouldn't miss at Animal Kingdom. I'm planning our schedule today for the week of the 17th of this month. Any advice would be great! Thanks

The Lion King Show is a MUST-DO for kids of that age (and adults...) It's great!!!

When we were there, my kids loved: The Safari, Bugs Life, Jammin' Jungle Parade, Rafiki's Planet watch (you can meet characters back there too!) and the Lion King Show. We also had breakfast with Donald Duck! Enjoy! :wave2:

My kids are 5 and 7 and told me to add the acrobats that perform outside the Tusker House, the Boneyard and The Flights of Wonder show. They made me promise to never take them to see It's Tough To Be a Bug again.

Everything at AK except for Bugs Life and Dinosaur would be great for kids of that age. Some little ones seem to find Bugs life to scary for them, for instance i know of an 11 year old that became terrified :scared: of one particular part in It's Tough to be a Bug concerning something falling from the ceiling and something involving the back of the seats :ssst: Depending on when you go, AK can also get very VERY hot, :sunny: and the little ones tire out quickly.

I second the safari :goodvibes

It's a fun ride and you usally get to see lots of animals! :flower2:

look for Devine, she's normally in Asia I think. It is a woman who is dressed in vines and she blends in with the foliage. We got several good pictures of her and she is very graceful. My husband says that is going to be his new hunting attire. :rotfl:

We really loved Tarzan Rocks, Kali River Rapids, the Jungle Trek and The meet and great area at Camp Mickie-Minnie, but the safari was the best! WE did it 4 or 5 times over 3 visits. The animals and their habitats are amazing.!

The Lion King Show is a must see, try to sit down front, and if you are driving to disney, play the cd alot on the way there so the kids are familiar with the music. We love Flights of Wonder, wouldn't go to Animal Kingdom without seeing Hope, the bald Eagle. Kali River Rapids is fun, you will get wet, you may get soaked, you will have lots of fun. It's tough to be a bug is fun, but read up on it first and draw your own conclusions based on your kids, it is loud and can scare some kids. Tarzan is cool, but loud also, great music, but my 10 yr old ds still would rather skip it because it is so loud. The safari is absolutely fantastic, good to fast pass, and go do one of the shows while you are waiting for your time to come up, or have lunch. Have a wonderful time. Dress light, for some reason, AK is always the warmest of the parks, guess it's because you are in Africa!! :earsgirl:

I think the Pocahantas show is very neat for kids that age. They have the first couple of rows reserved for the kids and there are real animals in the show which my 8 year old loved. It's pretty short too which is nice for young attentions spans!

AK has never been my favorite park. We usually just breeze through it. But , I have also never taken the time to sit down and see any of the shows. This year when we go I would like to see The Lion King, Tarzan, and let my son dig around in the Boneyard.

I am the one in my family who hates ITTBAB !!! And while I will ride Dinosaur it is NOT my favorite.

A 2nd for DeVine. Ask a CM when and where she will be "performing".

Hi...Another place in AK to explore is Conservation Station. In Harambe, you catch the Wildlife Express. It's about a 5-minute narrated train ride to a neat center that has indoor wildlife and conservation exhibits and an outdoor petting zoo. There are often characters there and caretakers who do presentations with live animals. A great place for kids! Hope you and your family have a wonderful trip!! :cloud9:
