I just returned from my 1st stay at SSR and 1st at any DVC Resort. Before DVC I only stayed at Values and Moderates. After reading different post on the boards I kinda had these expectations set about the resort ahead of time. Well they were all blown out the window when I walked into my room. I was totally amazed at the room. My room was spotless and beautiful. I didn't at all expect the room to look the way it did. I did see many pictures on the DIS but they didn't do the room justice. Now like I said, I am use to Value and Moderate. I didn't at all expect things to be so much nicer. I actually slept all night every night (Never could I say that before). Even the pillows were nicer. I usually have to bring my own pillow I didn't have to use my own pillow - theirs was enough (It was so comfortable). The towels were so plush compared to the other resorts. And OMG - the showers actually had water pressure. And the castmembers throughout the entire resort - were so nice. I hadn't requested any special room or section. It really didn't matter to me - I was just happy to be there. She showed me some of the available rooms and let me pick where I wanted to stay. (I didn't at all expect this being it was Thanksgiving week and all.) I could have had my pick of any section or view. I picked Congress Park facing DTD.

I just kept on saying how happy I was that I joined DVC. When I walked in the door - I actually felt like I was Home! :)

Isn't SSR a great resort? I agree that it is really beautiful. We've stayed there twice so far and will plan to stay there again.

19 days and we are right back at the SSR. We also love SSR the rooms are great just don't know how we're going to make it in a Studio after staying for the first time in a 2bdrm.

We are staying at BCV in June and will try the others out but if all we get is SSR that would great as well.

You are making me very excited for our first trip "home" at the end of January. How far was it to the bus stops and restaurants from where you stayed facing DTD? I am glad you enjoyed your trip!!

I'm so glad to hear that you had such a nice experience at SSR! We have stayed there twice (a 2BR and studio) and are batting a thousand with great experiences. I'll second your opinion that the beds and pillows are very comfortable - we slept very soundly there (miles of walking does help, too). I hope you have many great visits in the future; DVC is awesome! :thumbsup2

I really didn't time exactly how long it took to walk to the bus stop. I would guess 1-2 minutes. It wasn't even anything to think about, the bus stop was right there. The walk to DTD was very short - about 10 minutes. We walked quite often to DTD.

The bus stop at Congress Park was the 3rd stop on the route - We always had a place to sit on the bus going to the parks. Coming back from the parks at park closing - we always got on the 1st bus that came. I was very surprised by this since it was busy.

We stayed in a 1BR - and also don't know if we will be able to stay in a Studio. It was so nice having the extra room, full kitchen (which we used more than we thought we would) and the washer and dryer was nice to have.

Goofydiz,

Which building in Congress Park were you in? Did they say anything about when Grandstand Section might be opening?

Goofydiz,
You have discovered the REAL secret of a wonderful WDW experience, DVC or otherwise......................you've brought some of the "magic" with you in your positive and open attitude! Too many folks coming to WDW forget to bring that one important item! :goodvibes

We were there from 11/22-11/29 also in Congress Park. We were in room 1411. I think we were in the last room of the resort, meanning the closest to DTD. I did time the walk to the bus stop, it was about 5 mins. We also walked to DTD, I don't think it took more than 10-15 mins. We did take it slowly for my mother-in law's sake. We all loved the resort. For the most part bus service wasn't too bad. They say busses run every 20-30 mins, I timed it and they were right. It was a little frustrating that on EMH am for MK we waited almost 30 mins, and in that time we had 2 AK and 2 Epcot busses stop at the bus stop. When the bus arrived it was standing room only, and not all of the people at our stop got on. I did feel bad for the people waiting at the springs, that was the last stop and our bus was so full that we couldn't stop there. They didn't look happy when we passed them, but where were they going to stand the bus was full. I would think that Disney would run more busses for the park that was open early, but that's just my opinion. It was a great vacation, and we will stay there again.

Oh wow! We leave tonight for our first stay at our "home". I cannot wait and you have made it sound so special. Wow! Thanks for your great report.

We were there at the same time! I just got back yesterday! I loved SSR and can't wait to go back. We were in the Paddock, with the bus stop right in front of our building. I think we just timed the bus thing badly because we always seemed to wait 30 minutes or more for a bus.

We were in building 1501-1836. I didn't ask about the Grandstand section and we didn't venture that way to check it out - Sorry!

Yeah I experienced that one morning - our bus filled up to capacity and when we passed their bus stop - they were waving their arms in totally disgust. I really felt bad for them.

I'm just so thrilled that I have finally bought into DVC. We've been going yearly sometimes twice a year for the past 16 years. Now I am experiencing Disney in a different way than ever before. I use to rush through trying to fit in every little bit I could - not knowing when I'd be back. Now I know I'll be back real soon (I don't need to rush through it all - I can sit back and enjoy it - just soaking it all in) In the past I didn't care where I stayed - I would only be there to sleep. With DVC you can actually enjoy your resort - You actually feel like you are home.

When I first started looking into buying DVC, I'd see everyone say "Welcome Home" I didn't get it at first -but the second I walked through that front door - I actually felt like I was home. :sunny:

We love SSR - just booked a trip in January. SSR gets slammed, and I just dont get it. How trivial are we that we complain about waiting an extra few minutes for a bus, or taking a 5 minute walk to the main lobby/restaurant.

Good Lord - you are Disney World staying in Deluxe accomodations!!! Yes, certain resorts have that convience of being in a more ideal location to the parks, but get real. We just stayed at BWV, loved the location, and the resort was beautiful, unique and fun. We have enjoyed every resort so far, Disney always meets our expectations

We love SSR and have been there 6 times now and have another trip in MAY and AUG, but I still love to hear great reports from home. :cool1:

It does???? I'm fairly new here but I'd have to say I've seen nothing but great reviews of SSR. :confused3

OP, Glad you had such a magical stay at SSR.

I am so glad you had an awesome stay at SSR. :teeth: We are also owners at SSR and love it. Good to hear another great review.

We also were pleasantly surprised the first time we stayed at SSR. We had been DVC members for some time, with our home resort being OKW. We never had any desire to stay at SSR, and were not at all interested in the location. We were "forced" to stay there when OKW was sold out as we planned a last minute trip. We loved the place enough to do our first ever add-on of points. The CM's are some of the nicest Disney CM's we have ever come across. The room decor is the nicest of all the DVC resorts, IMO. We are looking forward to our next stay there this summer.
