HI

This will be my first time staying at the Dolphin and I'll be using the nursing discount. I have heard that some people were able to get free room upgrades, once they arrived to the hotel.

I also joined Starwood, but I did it online so I haven't had a chance to speak to anyone in person yet.

Does anyone have any advice or tips as to how I may go about getting a free room upgrade on the Club Level?

How were you able to get a good deal?

Thank you

I once got a free upgrade to Club level at the Dolphin.

How did I do it? I checked in at midnight, and (apparently) it was all they had left!

This is not a recommendation! ;) Hopefully someone will suggest a better strategy.

I have never staayed at the S&D but I have gotten upgrade at the other resorts by checking in EARLY and WHISPER the request..that is what one of the reservationist told me...ithey don't want everyone to know this is an option
I got upgraded to the tower in Comtemp and Widerness Lodge... good luck!

I've never heard of a free upgrade to club level unless you already have lots of Starwood points accumulated. There also is a Starwood American Express that can earn you points. You should be able to get info on that at the Starwood website. Even if you can't upgrade to club level, you may be able to upgrade your view or to a balcony room. Make sure you call the Starwood 800 number and have your Starwood member number added to your reservation. You can make requests by going to swandolphin.com and clicking on Special Requests under reservations. Then you can check your account at the spg.com website to see if you've been upgraded. We were only upgraded a week before we left. I believe they do room assignments on Friday. If you don't get an upgrade, be sure to ask at check in. I think whispering is a good idea. I did get a view upgrade, but didn't get a balcony that I requested at checkin and it may have had to do with the fact that I tend to talk REALLY loud.

We just got back from 3 nights at the swan and 9 nights at the Poly. We were upgraded to a lake view room with a balcony free at the swan. I sent an email through Swandolphin.com under their special requests section for a balcony room. When we checked in the woman at the desk said she saw our request and would be happy to give us a balcony. So...I would suggest using their website.
