I know there are $1/2 movie theaters etc. but I am looking for discounts or coupons that might be available for Regal or Carmike Cinemas.

We typically go to matinees so that is a little cheaper. We have 3 different movies that are coming up just a few days apart from each other so any thing would help. It is a hard pill to swallow if you think about $50 out of the budget just for movie admission. I am hoping someone know some secrets out there.

Google "Regal Cinema discounts (or coupons)" or "Carmike Cinema discounts (or coupons)"?

The entertainment book has movie coupons in them and at most AAA locations you can buy movie tickets. Not sure which theaters they are, but they both have discounts.

Our Carmike Cinemas offers a Super Saver admission to films that aren't in their first or second weekend -- It is normally the 4 or 5 o'clock-ish showing on Sunday afternoon and the tickets are discounted to $6. I always just check the show times and prices on Fandango to see which one is discounted (but don't buy from them - they tack on $1 per ticket) - We're planning to see Shrek Forever After this Sunday! Hope this helps!

Check the websites of all the theaters near you maybe they have some special deals. One of ours has a $5 club that you can go to most movies for $5 (even at night) after the 2nd week they are out (or sometime around there I can't remember.)
It is Kerasotes theater btw.

My local theater (non-chain) runs a deal every Tuesday: All movies are $5 all day. It's always packed on Tuesday. It's a 12 theater all stadium style seating...So for $20 DH and I can go to a movie, get a large popcorn and a large soda and still have a couple quarters left over.

What we do is limit ourselves to about one or two first run movies per year. Instead, when a new movie comes out that sounds good to us, we write it down in my date book. That way you do not feel like you will forget it later. Then we use the local library and watch these movies for free. I know it's hard to wait, and it's fun to go to the movies, but like you said it is a pricey outing.

I do the same thing with books. Instead of buying the newest book that comes out I write it down. Then I borrow it from the library for free.

That's what we do also. It's cheaper and saves a lot of storage space. After seeing the movie or reading the book we may decide to purchase a few special ones, but that's rare.

I do the rebates or cereal promos for free tickets and do them as many times per household I'm allowed. Then we go to the local theater for a matinee (everyone pays $6) so between a few free tickets and the discount it doesn't cost us as much.

We also only go to 1-2 movies a year. The rest we get from netflix or the disney ones we buy with a good deal and the $10 coupons. Much cheaper than 5 people for the movies.

Do you have a theater around you that shows the movies later? We have one that gets the movies about 2 months after they come out. Instead of being $8.75 for admission, it's $4.50. If there's one we really want to see inthe theater rather than at home, we wait until it's there.

All Cinemarks by us are $5 for the first showing of the movie everyday including weekends and brand new movies. If its in 3D there is a $3.50 surcharge on top of it.

We go to a lot of movies at 11am on Saturday and Sundays.

DS and I saw Prince of Persia last night ~ at our newish 13 screen stadium seating theater ~ it was a 7:15pm show and we got the matinee price! I guess all shows on Tuesdays are matinees ~ I'll have to remember that.....

I went to the Fandango website to check on the prices for Shrek. Lo and behold, they had a special offer for Visa cardholders...BOGO free! So, I bought two child's tickets ($5.50 each) and an adult ticket ($6.50) for a Saturday afternoon showing. They gave me my adult ticket as the freebie! So, even after factoring in the service charge ($1 per ticket), I was able to take the kids to see Shrek for less than $15. I had to drive to a cinema a little further away, but the theatre by our house wanted $10 per ticket:scared1:!

The price of movies are crazy these days.

I have been getting free movie tickets with the cereal promotions. I combine coupons and store sales and even buy cereal we don't like. I give it to my neighbor. I can sometimes get the cereal for 1.00 a box so for 3.00 I get a movie ticket.

We do matinees whenever possible.

I have an entertainment book and I participate in the movie clubs. Regal Cinemas has one and AMC does too.

It's been a hobby of mine to get movies as cheaply as possible because we love going.
