Ok, we are a family of 5 (3 daughters 12, 11 & 8). We've been to Chef Mickeys and had fun, but wonder if we should try something else for our first night dinner. Help please! We wont be going to the parks that night.

What about 1900 Park Fare (with Cinderella) - it's a nice buffet at the GF.

Or Whispering Canyon Cafe in WL for some rootin' tootin' fun.

Or Ohana's - if you plan right you may get to see Wishes from the restaurant (poly).

Ohana - Nothing says welcome to Walt Disney World more than a meal at the shores of the Polynesian (Aloha)!

my vote is for whispering canyon, boma (cool hotel to roam around in after dinner) or kona (again, walk around the hotel then take the monorail for a ride)
have a great time!

Mmm... Boma! I'd be going there on my first night, BUT a friend is joining us on the 2nd day and wants to go back there when she arrives (we all went last year and loved it). So, for our first night, we are going to head over to WL and try out Whispering Canyon.

Our first night we won't be at the parks either. I made reservations for Ohana because we couldn't get into 1900 Park Fare. I'm still trying daily to get into 1900 that night because I think that would be the perfect welcome to Disney for my kids!

I know you have been to Chef Mickey's, but that is what I would have to go with. Chef Mickey's is always on our list, and it is either the first or last night of the trip. This June, it is our last meal. I don't know, there is just something so special about kicking off or closing a trip with a Chef Mickey's meal.

Where are you staying? It might be nice to eat at your resort and wander around there a bit.....

Ohana's - Love seeing the castle at a distance and if you time it right, you can see the Water Parade and Fireworks. We know we're at Disney World then!

We're in the same situation and we're going to DTD. Not sure where we'll dine, although we're leaning toward WPE, but we'll surely take a walk to Goofy's Candy for dessert!

we always go to 'Ohana our first night...we then head to Epcot and "walk it off" and then back to Pop. We sleep like Babies with full tummies. ;)

We started with 1900 Park Fare dinner. It was really good. DD met Cindy and the mice. Prince was out so we had Snow White instead. Dh wants to go back so it must have been really good for him.

Cape May! Nothing like hitting Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Thunder Mountain first thing in the morning with a gut-full of 12-hour-old seafood. :)

My vote is for Boma. Check the schedule for storytime by the fire and you and your family can get that in as well.
