1st DVC trip: vote on where we should stay!

I voted AKV. Given the ages of your children, I think the animals will make a great "wow" factor for your first trip.

WLV since you're going to MK for 3 days.

My second choice would be BW or BCV because of food and wine...it's great to walk over to Epcot in the evening, movies on the beach, SAB and BW activities.

Another vote for VWL because of its proximity to MK, but if its booked up I'd go for BCV or BWV.

I voted for OKW because of the larger accommodations. But you might find that on your second trip that its a let-down when you see the smaller units at the other places.

I too vote for Wilderness Lodge. If you are going to be spending a great deal of time at MK it's only a boat ride away.

VWL - Hands down the best travel time to and from MK. Any other DVC resort you stay at will result in more time on the buses. I mean, the buses are OK, but going back and forth to your resort w/little ones is much easier if you can do a quick and enjoyable boat ride (like from WL to MK). And the walk from the boat dock to the villas is pretty short. If you stay at BCV or BWV you can take a boat to EPCOT and HS (or walk) -- to get to MK you could take a bus or walk thru EPCOT to the monorail but that's a long way w/kids. And then there are the pools - I can't even imagine keeping track of 3 little ones at SAB. And the slide at the BWV pool is really big - depends on how your kids are - at 5 or 6 yrs old I know at least 2 of my kids wouldn't have tried it. The pool slide at VWL is perfect for that age group. SSR and OKW would mean taking a bus everywhere except DTD. And AKL would mean taking a bus everywhere.

I know some people would say AKL because that's your home resort but...while your kids are younger, another resort might better suit your needs. We are DVC members at SSR since 2004 but we just stayed there for the first time this past Dec. - in my mind I think of all the DVC resorts as our "home away from home" but overall our family favorite is BWV - we'll be staying there again in June.

Yup - VWL would be my choice.

I agree with both of these choices. If availability is not an issue I think I would choose VWL because you plan to spend alot of your park time in MK. So I voted for VWL. If it's not available....AKV is amazing and your kids (and you) will love it! Anywhere you end up staying is going to be great.....after all it's your FIRST TRIP!! Have fun planning!

I also voted for VWL for all the reasons listed above. In addition, when my kids were little, it was nice to take the boat from the MK and keep the sleeping children in their strollers. No taking the child out and folding up the stroller for a bus ride home, they could just sleep all the way home if they needed to. I really think if you're spending the majority of your time at the MK, VWL is your best choice.

Nope... I just meant the OP. Surely not this year and I think next year is looking like a long national parks trip.

We need more time. This working for a living thing really bites into the vacation time.

VWL was my vote. Also, since you're going in Oct. look at the dates for the MNSSHP. We did that on our Oct. trip and it was a blast!!!!

I voted for AKV, but only because that is one of your home resorts. You should go 'home' for your first DVC trip.
